Well, this year I just went to dinner with Matao and had an overall very mellow night. It was one of my favorite birthdays.

I love doing things outside too- I used to always have sledding parties, and I forced a handful of friends to go camping in the middle of winter a few years ago which was kind of insane but a lot of fun.

It really just depends on what I'm in the mood for!

I honestly don't ride very much anymore. I'm not as tough/stubborn as I used to be, and in the winter it's more nerve wracking than fun to ride in the dark/rain. My mom just bought me an indoor magnetic bike trainer for my birthday so I can stop being such a lazy butt, even when I don't want to ride outside.

what is your favorite (alcoholic) cocktail? recipe?

Ack! I've been a beer drinker for so long, that my cocktail experience for the most part has revolved around crappy well drinks at the bar (whiskey sours, vodka cran, rum and Coke type drinks), or even crappier drinks mixed at home- primarily consisting of juice or soda and cheap liquor.

I actually have been experimenting more lately, though. My favorite thing right now is a few slices of fresh ginger, 5 or so mint sprigs, and the juice of a whole lemon- muddled with gin, whiskey, or rum (depends on what I have in the freezer), and mixed with tonic water, or half gingerale/half water. I'm finding that I really enjoy tart drinks with very little sweetness. My goal right now is to perfect a gin and tonic (to my liking).

What are your short term, and long term, ambitions?

Yikes! This is going to be a novel...

Short term- Going back to school (business), challenging myself to learn more and more about food/cooking on my own terms, doing something small and fun that I can count as a "business" (potentially having a stand at the weekly farmers market), paying off bills, saving money to travel, learning more about foraging in Washington, finding a balance with my social life (I need one!), doing more physical activity outdoors, and gaining more life-experience outside of my job.

Long term- Going to culinary school, actually taking time out to really travel and explore, figuring out where I really want to live for an extended period of time (even just within the city or state), starting a larger small business (cafe or catering company), getting a new/old car again, living somewhere where I can have a decent sized garden and keep chickens, and not going insane!

My idea of time isn't set in stone for short or long term- just what I think is the most realistic. I'm sure a lot of my goals/ambitions will overlap and move around.
