I used to play Yu-Gi-Oh a lot as a kid and I really don't like it. The card balance was always extremely wonky, and it took basically my whole youth for certain archetypes, such as plants and fairies, to get any kind of support. Meanwhile there's always been a gigantic preponderance of machines, spellcasters and fiends, and they keep popping out more and more of those. In Yu-Gi-Oh it's very likely you'll find a cool deck idea, but you can't play it effectively, because it's grossly undersupported. The lack of resource management outside of your hand (lose draw tempo, and you lost period) also bothers me. Yu-Gi-Oh has been great at innovating new mechanics to summon monsters, but draw and discard are always extremely powerful and unbalancing effects, and tend to become insane money cards.

Really most of the times I'm pretty okay, just sometimes I get sad or angry and try to engage those feelings on the internet to try to work through them. Some people go out jogging, some people binge feed, some people call their friends on the phone, I tweet about how mopey should mopey mopey. It's a little dangerous to have those feelings out in the open I suppose. But it gives me a feeling that someone out there is looking at this and going "I feel this way too" and both of us are a little less alone then. We're a big mopey family.
It may sound like a disorganized mess, in no way conducive to learning anything. It is.

Right now I'm trying to get through Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson. I was trying to start on Dresden Files but I don't really like it so I dropped it after about 100 pages or so of the first novel.
I like the idea of the Adelian military being an important protagonist faction. A lot of times fantasy protagonists are supposed to be heroes outside and above the mere ranks of a military unit, because the independence is part of the power fantasy. But I enjoy having heroic men and women who are, institutionally, just the "lowly" privates bossed around by higher echelons.

The archeological groups are also pretty fun. You could have fantasy Indiana Jones or Alan Grant (or female versions thereof, or even transgender versions thereof) looking for signs of the ancient civilization in the wilderness, and coming into contact with all sorts of things, good or not.

I have a lot of fun with the Angels because you can play them so many ways. You could make them goofy ambulant beetle-shaped garbage cans hugging the walls of an ancient relic in some desperate bid to satisfy long-dead masters, or you can have a serious and creepy Terminator deal – all in a fantasy setting. I'm also pretty keen on the Furies, because there's such a wide spectrum of possibilities. They can be anything from insane crusading amazons with little control over their own actions, to calm, horrific defilers or even goofy "for the evulz!" Or they could even be in the right, or doing good (even if accidentally, or for ulterior motives).

The gadgets and early industrial societies and such just don't mesmerize me like they do to others. Though I've read some stories that skillfully use Steampunk to make social commentary (such as about Imperialism, Racism and etc) and enjoyed it, Steampunk adventure stories just don't do much for me. For similar reasons I don't read a lot of Hard Science Fiction (and also because the harder space physics stuff tends to fly over my head).
