As for the details of the accident, well, I still have a fairly vivid memory of it. Some guy was racing another guy and crossed the double line hitting the truck my mom and I were in head on. We were just coming home after taking my cat, who was in a carrier in the back of the pickup, and our young rottweiler to the vet. The truck had just recently been outfitted with giant mud tires, so, since dude was speeding and we weren't, we practically went over his car like a monster truck, but only halfway.

The truck rolled at least seven times before ending up, upside-down. The battery from the truck had been ejected after the hood had been taken off during the rolling. I remember being so confused as to what had happened, that I hadn't really registered what happened until I spotted my mom halfway out of the vehicle with a bloody face. I remember breaking down and crying at that point.

My mom had the worst extent of injuries, I suppose, maybe because I was still young and all, I was spared. The interesting part of the accident report was that the police had said both my mother and I were not wearing our seat belts, which is weird since we always put them on. Needless to say, the police believed that if we had been wearing our belts, we probably would have died.

As for our pets, my cat's carrier had busted open and he'd taken off. The dog suffered a broken leg.
