The Irate Gamer is a fool. His videos are terrible, he's a comedy vacuum, his grasp on gaming is so poor that if he wrote a book on it, I wouldn't even trust the page numbers, and his attitude... well, I guess not the worst of the video critics, but that's not saying much. Is he still making videos? Really? ("I didn't know!" - Reference some will get.)

In short, AVGN wins by default. Although I'm a bit mixed on him. Basically, I like James Rolfe and a lot of his commentary, but I don't like the Nerd character. Swearing isn't intrinsically funny and the poo jokes and similar bug me more than they otherwise might because he's shown many times that he's much cleverer and funnier than that. When he's on form though, he's very good, and very watchable.

Overall though, I think Spoony's the best of the funny game critics. He's certainly the most natural of the current crowd, and has a good mix between getting comically annoyed with games and actually enjoying them for the silly badness in the same way that the audience is there for.

(General Note to YouTube Reviewers: Please stop saying "I really wish I didn't have to review this." YOU DON'T. Also, please stop 'destroying' cartridges with terrible FXHome and similar off-the-shelf explosion effects. I mean it. Stop.)
