In an industry as crowded as daily deals, the possibility to get each user what he or she wants, is a big advantage.
Another advantage we have over most our competitors are our mobile apps. Last week we launched a native app for iPhone which makes it easy to find nearby deals on a map that detects the user's location and displays close daily deals. The app also lets users view their personalized deal feed and improve their recommendations by learning from users' actions and preferences. We'll be releasing apps for Blackberry and Android as well soon.

We use several different technologies to serve different purposes. For example, we use Apache as Web Server, Ruby on Rails 3 as main web framework and its ecosystem; Passenger as App Server; Custom AI for the personalized recommendations feature, semantics engine for deals sorting and categorization, JQuery for candy visual effects and front end interactions. MySql for main data persistence, MongoDB for logging and data analitycs, Redis/Resque for async tasks and cache, SAAS and HAML for clean markup and Git as CSV hosted by the nice guys from Github.

Pinggers uses the Artificial Intelligence for several purposes. It is quite simple really. Our AI learns from everything you do while you visit the site; when you get a deal, the system learns you like it, same goes for when you click thumbs up or down, to express you like or dislike a deal.
