I'm constantly changing lens throughout a wedding, but I'd say that my 50L has probably been the most used.

Thanks for your question and I'm delighted you're enjoying the work! I think you're own personality comes into play when you're posing couples. I'm quite a laid-back person so I try to ease couples into the session by chatting and joking with them a bit. Yes, the poses are directed but I'm interested in the in-between moments. If I ask them to do something, like kiss, it will be the laugh after they kiss that I really want. It's very simple posing and all couples will be different so it's important to be open to that. I don't want them to feel uncomfortable at any stage. I do look for good light and locations which really helps. I sometimes make a big fuss about the place and the light, so they don't feel the emphasis is all on the perfect pose. This seems to work for me. The main thing is to have fun trying!

Hi Gareth. I've get jobs through my blog mostly but I think they get to there by word of mouth and referrals. You should be as open and honest about yourself on your blog so that you make a connection with the right clients for you. So take what you enjoy photographing and your interests and bring that into your wedding work to make it your own, and to help you stand in an oversaturated market. Concentrate on your craft, not what the rest are doing. Maybe do some creative wedding shoots with other wedding vendors just to build your portfolio up and give you some great shots to get you started. I didn't actively start my business to be a wedding photographer, it just kind of developed into that.

If I had the opportunity I would love to do more outdoors weddings. My favourite was the tippee Wedding I did recently. But I'm also a big fan of old manor houses. With all the large windows, they are designed for natural light.

That is still the most difficult element to doing a wedding. All the stuff you can't plan for. If everyone is at the church and it's not raining, I'll shoot the groups there. Also it really helps if you employ a bossy member of the bridal party to help you out with getting people together. Always stipulate before the Wedding that getting these shots can be tricky and time permitting. Good communication with the couple before the day on issues like this is essential.

My canon focuses really well. I always use the central focal point and recompose. I've never known Nikon so can't really make that comparison. The 5D MkII performs well in lowlight and I have no plans to give up my beautiful canon lenses for Nikon.
