Yes, they spell it wrong and they pronounce it incorrectly and strangely I don't mind anymore! (It did bug me as a child though and for a while I tried to go by my middle name Nadya)

It varies throughout the year and is also very seasonal for me with my busiest time from September to December. I am cutting back this year because I feel like I worked way too much last year and missed out on too much family time, I'm still fine tuning that work/life balance!!

You know, it's a matter of familiarity for me. I owned my first canon 35 mm film camera when I was 18 yrs old so I've just stuck with that brand ever since. Now I'm so heavily invested in lenses and camera bodies that I'm locked in for now. I do love Canon though and am very happy with my 5d Mark II. It's a remarkable camera. Not perfect by any means, but I find the canon to be a more intuitive system with the layout and menu configurations. It just seems to "fit" me better. I have heard that the nikon focusing mechanism is more accurate though. I highly recommend trying out both systems and see which one feels right for you!

Good question Julie! There's many ways to "kick it up a notch" and few of them involve equipment! You can challenge yourself with "projects" such as shooting in direct light, or backlight, or low light etc... In terms of equipment, simply adding a fixed lens to your repertoire can kick start your creative juices because it forces you to work within a specific framework. A low cost way to accomplish this with the Canon XSI is to get the 50mm prime f1.8 lens. It is about $79. And will actually work as a 70mm prime portrait lens on a sub frame camera such as the XSI. If you have the $ to invest in a better camera body then you can do that but I've always considered "good glass" to be more important than anything else. Get a great, high quality lens with a fixed fast aperture. The best all around lens I own is the Canon 24-70mm f2.8. Hope that helps!

A photographer's dream. The place where I suddenly decided that taking pictures was more than just a hobby for me and instead would become a lifelong passion.
