As with books, I think that, if a movie is good, it's important to experience it more than once. The first time, you're figuring the movie out as it goes along; the second time, you're seeing the movie from the beginning, already knowing everything that is going to happen. As you digest the movie, you begin to notice and realize things about it that you didn't the first time through.

A good example is: Would you say Fight Club was better the first, or second, time you saw it? The movie drops all these little clues to what the big twist is ("For some reason, I thought of my first fight with Tyler"), but you don't see them until the second viewing. They're like little inside jokes for the people who have already watched it once.

I'm pretty sure Mamoru Oshii made a whole movie about the concept of needing to watch a movie more than once to truly understand it.

I realize it's probably just semantics, but this question feels like it misses the entire point of being able to travel through time.

That is not how love works. You can't "make" someone fall in love. You have to convince them to fall in love, and to stay in love.

These default Formspring questions are lame. Like bland cafeteria food. Bulk ingredients. No seasonings, for fear of aggravating someone's allergies.

I would never be able to afford the taxes or maintenance on either. But I'm guessing a private jet would be worth more when I sold it.

I would probably never date a celebrity, because that is a horrible idea.

      Christina Hendricks, though.

I'm assuming this question is referring to a hypothetical romantic relationship. In which case, guess what? They're both bullshit, because whatever I hypothetically did wrong probably had nothing to do with roses or candy. It's just misdirection.

Wait, are you implying that these two things are somehow mutually exclusive, and not aspects of the same thing? I'm not sure they are concepts that can be meaningfully separated.

I'm in the middle of reading Cryptonomicon again for (I think) the fourth time.

Depends on my mood and what's available. Ketchup or mustard is fine, although some sort of non-standard version is preferred (spicy or curry ketchup; honey mustard or some sort of horseradish/wasabi concoction). Gravy or ranch dressing is awesome, but when you do that you have to acknowledge that each fry is probably taking minutes off your lifespan (especially when you demolish an entire plate of Outback Aussie Cheese Fries all by myself... I mean... yourself).

      Sriracha ALWAYS works.

At some point in my life, I WILL try poutine.

Unless it's a conversation that I have specifically set aside time for (during which I am doing nothing else), I actually kind of hate talking on the phone, as opposed to texting.

I'm pretty sure it was Inception. Yeah, that long ago. The problem is that, when I was in high school, going to the movies cost 1/3 or 1/2 what it costs now, but the quality -- both the quality of movies and the quality of the theater-going experience itself -- hasn't really increased enough to justify the increase in cost (or, arguably, AT ALL). For the price of two movie tickets, I can usually purchase the same movie for viewing in the comfort of my own home, with the same people I would have gone out the the theater with, and without all the noisy strangers and crying babies and overpriced snacks. AND I have a more diverse selection of movies to choose from than just what happens to be in theaters at the time.

Autumn. Hands down. It's my favorite weather; cool, but not too cold. Often cloudy. The leaves change and fall. I like when the weather is cool enough that I want to wear a coat, but not so cold I have to wear gloves, if that makes any sense.

Also, Autumn is the time for Halloween and Thanksgiving, and pumpkin-flavored everything.

Definitely an evening person. I usually prefer to avoid mornings altogether, unless there's some really good reason for me to be awake (such as morning sex).

      Ah, morning sex.
