Um, aestheticly, try and not use too much contrastrating colours or a variation of colors (unless you want a screaming neon character). Try and make the colors match the settings, like steampunks or war veteran might be saturated colors.
You can always break these rules but you should know what you are doing before doing so~

you could use guidelines. and you could like, draw each side of the face at a time... if you know what i mean. /that helped me improve at that)

what I mean is there are no original cartoons any more. And the majority of them is old stuff(Dexter, Foster's home, PPG), or licensed stuff (Batman, superhero shit). The only good "new" cartoons on CN anymore is like Regular Show and Adventure Time. There used to be sooo many good cartoons before. But it isn't even about story any more with that. They just want like toy sales and shit, which was why Sym Bionic Titan got cancelled, even though it was the best fucking cartoon ON that station.
