Where did "See-o-ahtlah-ma-kas-kay" come from?

  • Oliver Knörzer

See-o-ahtlah-ma-kas-kay is the name of the raccoon in the Aztec language and means “she who talks with spirits”, referring to a mythical raccoon animal spirit. It is taken out of Virginia C. Holmgren’s great book “Raccoons: In History, Folklore & Today''s Backyards”.
