My start up, Teethie, is working on building a new discussion platform - conversations on the web have so far been relegated to fairly linear paths, with threaded conversations being state of the art. However, that's not how we converse in real life, and building a tool that allows discussions to operate more naturally, and even, take advantage of the medium (i.e., unlike a face to face conversation, everything on the web is archived) in ways that enhance the conversation seem imperative to me if we're going to create a brighter future for long-form discussions on the web.
We are also primarily focused on communities, because I believe people don't want to talk to random other people, but rather people who are similarly engaged as them, and whom they have built rapport and trust with. I mean, it's ridiculous to me that we would call someone crazy if they walked down the street trying to strike up conversation with everyone they pass, and yet, we design our web products as if this was the way people want to behave.

I love skiing, but the ski industry is a different world. Perhaps someday I'd do it, but it would definitely be more of a hobby project - and something fun, like designing outerwear or something like that.

The name is mostly facetious. I am not the kind of person who likes to listen. Hah. But I process things far quicker when I'm reading them on a page instead of listening for the most part, unless, of course, I'm having a conversation with someone.

I like this idea, but if I ever fell I'd probably cry like a baby. I find that although I have done all kinds of things to myself skiing, I've never cried half as much as when I skin my knee. Blood makes me a baby, apparently.

I stopped posting them because I haven't had a ton of time lately, unfortunately. I'll probably start posting them again eventually, but for now I've called a bit of a bankruptcy and a hiatus. I miss doing them, though.

Wow, tough question. There's a lot of great advice I've been given throughout my life. I don't know if this is the one I'd pick if I gave it some more thought -- I can actually think through some specific great pieces of advice I've gotten from other individuals in my life -- but the following from my coach, when he gave me the 'golden rule of speed skiing.' He told me, "In speed skiing, there are no brakes. Whatever you do, do not go for the brakes. Because they won't be there. There's only two things in speed skiing: an accelerator, and an eject button." more: http://ninakix.posterous.com/a-new-years-resolution

Maybe not my absolute favorite, but I love this one and I've been thinking about it for a while...

Oh, probably Jim Halpert and Dwight Shrute. Together they're just too funny.

Hah, seriously dude? Answer still stands... Anyways, if you're asking this question multiple times on my Formspring... I'm probably out of your league. Unless you're Logan Couture, in which case you should holler.

Always a small group of friends... I'm kind of a quiet, socially awkward person, I only appear not to be when I have a clear "script" for a situation (say, business networking or whatnot). In large groups I get distracted and confused by whom I should be talking to, how much I should be talking to each person, usually one person is there who for whatever reason, I don't like or makes me feel awkward... It's just a treasure trove of awkwardness. I've been told I fear awkwardness obsessively, as well. Anyways, which all goes to say, a small group of friends is much better, a group small enough where everyone can kick back and interact together... Plus, I feel like I can *actually* have conversations with someone, which is nice, because, you know, conversations are kind of awesome. And not awkward.

This is kind of an interesting question. I try not to swear so much in public spaces on the internet, and try to maintain some semblance of professionalism. Still, I guess sometimes it creeps out? Anyways, it's one of those verbal habits you pick up, like most verbal habits, from the people you hang out with. So, I guess I hung out with a lot of people who swear, especially when I was younger, and in certain situations that bring out that youthful exuberance. I swear when I get angry - but I guess this is the stuff I *really* try to keep out of the public domain, and my worst angry cussing I tend to do in private, because, well, it's just kind of tacky. I swear when I almost kill myself skiing, because that's just the standard reaction, I guess, but interestingly never when I drive - I guess I'm not that road-rage-y a person? I swear when I get excited sometimes, but that's more for dramatic effect and to drive a point home, e.g., one of my recent tweets, "I GOT POPCORN ALL OVER ME!!! CELEBRATTTTTIONNN BITCCCCHHHHEEEZZZZZZZ!!!! #GOSHARKS." But really, when the Sharks win Game 1 in the playoffs, that's an occasion for celebration!

It's a longer story, but basically I dropped out to ski race. Also, I was bored of high school and ready to move on to the next thing, and so I did!

No particular reason, no. Just focused on building and trying to figure out how to communicate with those groups who will be best for the alpha version of the product.

I think it will. Ultimately, Formspring's design and presentation is about emotion, while Quora is far more focused on information. As such, the types of questions one asks on Formspring over Quora generally vary greatly in intent. I think this emotional distinction is why Formspring has done so well with the community of teenagers who use and enjoy it particularly.
