But in all seriousness, everyone deserves a chance. But that's not to say that you should definitely go out with someone because they're different, because it's the exact same circumstances with anyone else. It's all about who you connect with. INIT. -
You're meant to tell that person that you like them because you have nothing to lose.
In practice, that never happens. Everyone (including me) is too scared. It seems to be the perception that anyone who is even remotely forward is either creepy or looking for one thing. That's not true. If you like someone, go for it. If they like you back, awesome. If they don't, it'll be awkward for a while but you'll get over it. But if you wandered what would've happened if you did ask and never go ahead with it, you'll regret it.
Easier said than done though. -

Closer than most. I'm not as close to my youngest brother but we all get along and have loads of inside jokes, it's great.

Good question, one which I've had to think about.
I think I was at my happiest at my most naive/innocent, and I think that comes with being younger (see William Blake's songs of Innocence/Experience). But saying that I've only been around a tender seventeen years and I've had some good/bad times, as do many... so I'm hoping I'll find true happiness (if it really does exist) in the future so if you were to ask me that question in say.. 50 years, I wouldn't be able to pick! -
