We have a lot on our plate right now. We have a small e-board and have been trying to organize two massive events, we advertised as best we could, the only thing we didn't do was put up fliers. There were multiple people present who told us it was their first time at the club. I'm sorry to hear that you were disappointed, but we won't be holding the event again for at least a few months. The club is a great way to meet people, and making social connections is a big part of what we want to do, but creating a matchmaking atmosphere cannot be a priority, as we are first and foremost and activism and education based organization.

Absolutely. Just email me at newpaltzqac@gmail.com and ask to be put on.

Sure that would be totally cool. If you're interested feel free to send an email.

Pansexual. I like everyone, regardless of gender/sex.

Lol aw shucks, thank you. QAC is amazing because we have the best members in the world.

Not totally sure yet. It's more of a meet and greet type of thing, and we're going to call it "speed friending". I'm trying to figure out a way for everyone to get to meet everyone else, but it's a very casual thing because obviously we don't want to exclude any straight allies/people in relationships, and people are going to meet people of all genders so. Last year we had two rows of chairs and everyone had 2 minutes to talk to everyone, kind of like traditional speed dating. Open to suggestions.

Nope, we don't have Sunday meetings, unfortunately. Just Wednesdays at 9, and e-board members hold office hours a few times a week for people who want to check out any books/movies, need a safe space, or just want to talk to us and chill.
-
Haha well it should be a lot of fun, I hope everyone comes to it.

We have an office. Last year, we all held office hours once or twice a week. That gets complicated though, because we can't just leave the office open all the time and right now we only have three e-board members, as opposed to the seven we had last year, so we can't really sit office hours for too much time during the week, but once the club gets started, we will definitely try to figure something out with the resources we have as far as having a safe space open more often. There's also an off campus support group for lgbtq students that meets every other week, facilitated by yours truly and another cool person, and I'll tell everyone about that at the meeting/via email. Also glad to talk further about this in person, and we will open up the discussion to the group eventually to see if anyone has any ideas. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

It will happen. Hopefully within the next two weeks to a month. E-board hasn't really discussed the date yet and we have to figure out how to best organize it, but it will definitely happen soon, it makes sense to do it the earliest in the semester that we can.
-
also, if anyone feels that we don't do enough, we encourage them to bring ideas to the table and we will absolutely do our best to take part in it.
-
All of the opportunities we can take to do activism, we absolutely will. I think last year we did a significant amount of activism.

Yes, this is Cody, I'm the president/ the one answering the questions.
We do have three rules.
-This is a safe space. What happens at QAC stays at QAC.
-Respect the people and space around you. Respect people's identities, and be nice.
-Don't ask, do tell. We will never ask you your gender identity, sexual identity, sexual orientation, etc., and we ask that members of the club do the same to avoid making anyone feel uncomfortable, or outing anyone. However, if you want to tell us anything about your gender identity, sexual orientation, or sexual identity, please feel free, that's totally awesome. -
Forgot about this. best catch phrase ever.

I think our goals will be similar to those we usually have. We want to provide a safe space and a support system and sense of community to all those who are lgbtq identified, or who are straight allies who are passionate about our cause, which is to create a safer campus and community for queer kids. We'll be doing as much activism as we can, including things like the AIDS walk and a whole bunch of education and spreading awareness on campus for lgbtq issues. We'll also have open communication within the club so that we can meet everyone's expectations about what they would like to see happen within the club.
-
Well if everyone wants to organize a trip to Primtime on the same night, that'd be cool. Obviously, that's not something we can arrange group transportation to, nor can we advertise it as a QAC thing, but it would definitely be fun if a bunch of members went together.
-
Well, QAC happens to have a high concentration of awesome because it provides a fantastic sense of community for lgbtq identified students and allies to the community, and spreads awareness around campus to make the community a safer place. We also take part in a lot of activism, and have many exciting and fun events along with weekly meetings that bring us all together. All the members of QAC make it super awesome..
