      My group had made dinner plans for Frtiday night at 7:30, then discovered something is happening at eight. Please advise.

      The cabaret will be taking place from 8 to 8:30 on Friday. If you can eat earlier (or faster) you're in for a treat!

      So long ago (!) I registered for this conference. Please remind me if/what I need to bring for the Peer Critique Workshop. (Pages and copies, please)

      For Peer Critiques, you will be assigned to a group of five peers writing in various genres. You will have 15 minutes to read and discuss your manuscript with the group. Plan to bring something that will take you five minutes or less to read to maximize your feedback. Please bring five copies of your manuscript portion to share.

      I am a new NESCBWI member. I did not register for conference, but I would like to know if you can attend conference without signing up for workshop/critique sessions. Are there other things to do, see and learn?

      There may be one or two Saturday Night/Sunday slots coming available, so let us know ASAP if you may be interested. There will also be an Encore event in the fall at which a few popular workshops will be repeated. As a new member, you will want to get onto the New England SCBWI listserv and also check out the bimonthly newsletter, which is available through the scbwi.org website. There are other great resources in the members section of scbwi.org as well. Welcome to SCBWI!

      What is the dress code for the Silver Ball?

      Dress code for the Silver Anniversary Meet & Greet on Friday night is casual, although we are encouraging silvery colors to honor 25 consecutive annual conferences.

      You can log into the registration site and resend your confirmation email, or send a request to the conference directors or registrar to generate this email for you.

      In the past there has been a discussion board for ride and room shares. I can't find it now... I reserved a room at the Marriott and then forgot to find someone to share it...oops!

      We recommend posting ride or room share requests to the New England SCBWI listserv. If you are not on the listserv, you may email the conference directors and we will post your request and forward responses back to you.

      Are the manuscript critiques filled?

      Critiques for picture book manuscripts now have a waitlist, but it still may be possible to get a critique for a middle grade or YA novel if you send your work in soon.

      I am on the waitlist for a MS critique spot. I noticed more Agent Quick Queries were added to the schedule due to high demand. Is there any chance more critique slots will open up?

      We've been trying our best to maximize the available critique slots, and there are already more slots this year than in previous years. If we come up with anything else, folks on the waiting list will be the first to know.

      Is the Friday night Silver Anniversary Ball actually a Ball? Getting dressed up would be fun but I don't want to be the only one! If not ball attire, how should we dress?

      The Friday Night Committee is planning a number of activities including a cabaret performance and open mic night. There will be a dance floor available but fancy dress will not be required.

      How quickly are the manuscript critique confirmations going out? Are they sent when the manuscript is received? (Thanks for indulging my anxiety.)

      Typically, the critique coordinator enters the materials into her database the same day she receives them, then sends a confirmation by email on the same or next day, but materials received on Saturday may not be confirmed until Monday. If the confirmation email bounces back as deliverable, the coordinator may not have time to follow up but you can email the conference directors after a reasonable period and we will look into it.

      Will we receive confirmation for manuscript critiques? If "yes", will the confirmation include name of the agent/editor we are paired with?

      Yes, you will get an email telling you if your spot has been confirmed or if you are on the waiting list. You will find out your agent/editor when you arrive at the conference.

      how do you sell your book at the bookfair. Is it open to everyone

      The conference bookstore is only open to workshop faculty, and all books sold there must have PAL status. If you are published and coming as an attendee, you may bring marketing collateral (bookmarks, cards, etc.) to leave on the freebies table.

      Hello...first time attending the conf...I have signed up for the illistrators academy and the poster showcse and see that I need to send something prior to the conference...will I be notified where to send the work and when? THANKS!

      Yes - you will be notified what to send, where, and what format.
