what's less alarming to you, being told on your first day at work that you have some massive shoes to fill, or being told on your first day at work that the person before you left after only one week at the position ?
Filling someone else's shoes can always be intimidating as you know that there exist hopeful expectations. However, it also usually means that that person liked the job well enough to stay in it for a good period. A person leaving after 1 week in the position can mean either the person made a bad choice or the job stinks...I'd just as soon avoid this option.
