What do you hope to see from the next generation of videogame consoles? What trend or feature would you like to see go away? #videogames #e3

I'm all for increasing motion sensor technology, but we don't have to make every game use it...use it for controlling home automation, or organizing your music collection...let's get back to consoles that have fantastic graphics and solid games instead of technological gimmicks.

Q20: Do you take a lot of pictures of yourself?

Nowhere near as much as a lot of people I personally know, but here's a recent one! I had to mess around with it and shit because it was far too dark. My camera's previews are highly misleading.

What do you hope to see from the next generation of videogame consoles? What trend or feature would you like to see go away? #videogames #e3

I'm going to go with the PlsyStation successor, since I like Sony, despite with their CEO previous to Kazuo Hirai over-engineering their products.

      - From a hardware standpoint -

I'd like to see Sony go with a standard video card rather than a custom version. The video card in the PS3 was a more powerful custom version of available video cards for PCs, which makes it more expensive due to the custom bits. It also makes it more difficult for developers who work with PCs, since they're familiar with standard models.

It's always nice to have more DRAM, and I would LOVE 4 gigs, but it's looking like 2 gigs is more economically viable.

There should also be a port for the same type of memory card that's in the PS Vita.

      - From a software standpoint -

Make the current dashboard and PSN store more user friendly. I actually consider them pretty intuitive right now, but they can always do things to make it simpler, more streamlined and take fewer steps to get you where you want to go.

The ability to use PS Vita style memory sticks and USB memory sticks to access saved games while you're in the game. Currently while you can put your saved game on a memory stick, games won't access it from that location.

On-board, intuitive, user friendly software that connects easily with other Sony products, like their smartphones, tablets TVs and so on.

If the rumours of working with a different central CPU maker and a different video card maker than the PS3 are true, it would probably be difficult to make the PS4 compatible with older games, which would REALLY hurt for downloadable games. Having the old PS3 chip (like having the PS2 chip on early PS3s) would just be WAY too expensive. Waiting around for other people to tweak their games to run on a PS4 wouldn't work fast enough, wouldn't do enough at once, and would get people to hold onto their PS3's, ESPECIALLY if they bought downloadable games or DLC. I would suggest the ability to purchase software to play PS3 games, and while we're at it, downloadable PSP games.

      - Peripherals -

I think the current Dualshock 3/Sixaxis controllers are fine the way they are. Since we're going into a new generation, Sony should work on updating the design to be cheaper to manufacture, use less power, have longer battery life, and be $5 to $10 less for the consumer.

The next generation PS4 should have motion controls. Yes, hardcore gamers hate it, BUT the casual crowd loved it. The PSEye style camera should be modified to act like a Kinect. Since it would be a next generation Kinect, it could be more accurate, cost less to make, and be cheaper for the consumer. Then developers would start developing both Kinect and PS4 games, which means they'd be much more apt to develop Kinect style games, since both systems could play them!

I wouldn't stop there though. The current PlayStation move wand doesn't have all the buttons on the right side of the controller (the other half, known as the "navigation controller" has all the buttons on the left side of the controller, or you can actually just use a controller, and could be made cheaper, more accurate, and sold at a smaller price point). I'd suggest having all the buttons from the right side of the controller. Doing this in conjunction with having software on board to make customizable controls and calibration for ANY game to use the PS Move wand! That's why you want all the buttons! Clearly not all the games would be optimized, but hopefully the customizable controls and calibration can help with those games not specifically optimized for the PS Move. However, since the software is already in place, and if they offered the Move right from the start, it could be an easy way to get developers to use the PS Move all the time!

The Wii U has a tablet, but Sony already has a tablet coming out, and they can also have games use the PS Vita JUST LIKE the Wii U tablet.

Many games for the PS3 are already compatible with a USB mouse, but there's usually some control issues, since not all mouses are alike - EXCEPT a 3rd party peripheral called the "Split Fish", which has all the face buttons on the right side of the controller on the left side of the mouse, and even a button in the middle to slow down aiming. I'd suggest that Sony have a PlayStation mouse, and the ability for people to use either a controller in their left hand or a navigation controller. The USB keyboard can already be used on a PS3, so it'd be easy to carry it over to the PS4.

Now what does it mean with all these accessories? The PS4 can play Kinect style games, Wii style games, Wii U games (with the PS Vita), and PC games specialized for the mouse (like RTS games, and a few others) are now much more viable. Certain mouse games also work with the wand/PS Move, and you can also use Sony tablets and smartphones!

The PS4, THE ULTIMATE GAMING MACHINE! BWAHAHAHAHAHA!

You should ask me what I think Sony should do with their smartphones, tablets and internal developers next Nathan!

The new Xbox looks like a piece of crap. I know they're talking about making it so each individual game will basically sync with the console, so they can't be sold second-hand because they won't work on any other console.

I don't know if they're staying with this concept, but regardless, I will not be upgrading from my basic-white 360 because 1, I don't play it enough to justify that. And 2, there's absolutely nothing wrong with the original design of the 360. (However, I must admit I said the exact same thing about the PS2, but after @dplatt2 got her PS3, I've been a bit jealous of it haha).

The things I'd like to see in the future aren't really on topic, as they're more along the lines of the types of games I'd want to see developed. So I'm pretty much content with what's already out there in actual systems.
