I don't have much experience with freelancing (I've never done it) but the best place you can check out locally is http://www.freelancentral.co.za - create a portfolio there. Also, search Bizcommunity for freelance positions. Use that in the keyword search. Hope my limited knowledge helps.

It let's me use Facebook Places. I have "lists" created so not everyone on my friends list can see where I am. Just people I trust. I use it like an/or in addition to a status update.

I don't know if you are male/female because if you are male, you're not gonna like the personal blogs I read. I read a lot of style, fashion, brand type of blogs from South Africa. My favourite personal blog is sliceoflemon.com - she is an American girl (with Indian roots) who proudly wears hijab and blogs/video blogs about her life. She is very funny. I love her videos more.
