What I would do is I will drag all my shortcuts to MSN, Skype, Tweetdeck and anything else that's a distraction off my dock so I won't see the icons and be tempted to click on them. Alternatively there's a plugin for Chrome users that lets them limit themselves to listed websites for like only a specific amount of time everyday. It's called StayFocusd (ya it's spelt like that) - I found out that if you block yourself from Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, all those sites you frequent, the productivity rate does go up.
