Try using a gel or powder eyeliner (or black eyeshadow) with a tapered liner brush to give you more control and precision. Start from the outer corner of your eye and work your way to the inner corner. This way you are stroking at a downwards angle, so there will be less mistakes, and you can slowly build the shape of your line. And as always, practice makes perfect!
