Thanks for asking! She posted an entry to her blog a couple of weeks ago saying that she got married!
I didn't hear from her personally again, but that's understandable. As much as she appreciated that I was a part of the last happy time with her parents, I was also connected her parents.
She got married in a friend's backyard, surrounded by people who loved them, without the stress and drama that had been placed on her during her initial wedding planning process. I definitely think of it as a happy ending! -
I would rather be really hot. Hot I can handle. Hot is not big deal.
Cold makes me BEYOND miserable - like, I seriously can't function when I'm too cold. It's bad. -
Okay, this answer isn't going to make a whole lot of sense, but here goes:
I'd like to be on The Bachelor.
Does anyone remember that season several years ago where one of the girls was a total plant? She was married to the Bachelor's best friend, and she was there to spy on everyone and secretly tell all about who was catty, who was crazy, who was there for the right reasons, who drank too much, etc.
I so want to be that girl. I would be FANTASTIC at that job. -
To my husband.
To my family.
To my friends.
I am the luckiest person in the world because I am loved unconditionally by the most amazing people I know. -
Chicago Market was AWESOME. I previewed the lines for Paloma Blanca, Mikaella, Pattis, Casablanca, and Martina Liana. We picked up a new designer, Lis Simon, whose dresses are bee-yoo-tee-full (and really affordable, too)! We bought poofy veils, veils incorporating tulle and french net, and veils with ruffled edges. We bought amazing earrings, bracelets, headpieces, headbands, flowers, sashes, belts, handbags and garters.
It was so interesting and SO MUCH FUN. It didn't feel like work - not in the slightest. Don't you just love when that happens? :)
And no, unfortunately I didn't see any Bees. I looked at their agenda, and we really weren't looking at the same designers. I would have tried to swing by to see them in action, but we were seriously busy the entire time. It was an exhausting trip! -
Silly rabbit...I made my pizza!
I didn't make the dough...I just used the Pillsbury-in-a-can-so-it-totally-tastes-like-breadsticks. But other than that, I very closely followed the recipe the Pioneer Woman posted this morning. Caramelized Onion and Proscuitto. YUM. MY. YUMMY.
I do love me some Trader Joes, but I wasn't headed that way this afternoon. I'll have to pick up that pizza the next time I go over there.
By the way, this is a recipe that Jared would be totally apathetic about. So I'm making it while he's out of town. I tend to stockpile recipes that just aren't up his alley and make them en masse while he travels. Tonight, caramelized onion and proscuitto pizza. Tomorrow night, feta and black olive quiche. Delish. -
Well, Jared's convinced that our first child will be a girl. And yes, we do have a name picked out: Paige Layton. Paige was the middle name of Jared's cousin Melissa who died of pancreatic cancer eight years ago. Layton is my mom's maiden name.
Boys. Boys are difficult. We definitely want our kids to have family names, so we've tossed around some ideas in that vein. My grandfather's name was Michael Joseph. My brother's name is Michael, and Jared's brother's name is Joseph. So that name WOULD BE perfect...except what would we call him? I don't want to have a son and a brother named Michael. And MJ...well, that just makes me think of Michael Jackson.
I really like the idea of using our dads' middle names: Samuel Edward. I'm all over that one. :) -
Ohmygosh I am SO EXCITED for Chicago this weekend!
Okay, so I work for a bridal shop here in Atlanta, and we carry about 14 or 15 different designers from all over the world. Some of the designers showcase their lines in New York, some in L.A., some in Barcelona, and some in Chicago. This weekend we're heading to check out the designers who are showing their Fall 2010 Collections in Chicago.
Specifically, we'll be looking at Paloma Blanca, Mikaella, Martina Liana, and Pattis. We'll also be looking for new designers to showcase, as well as browsing accessories and bridal accoutrement (I totally spelled that wrong).
I'm also really looking forward to meeting more people within the industry. Even though fashion was the absolute last place I ever saw myself working, I've found myself squarely in the middle of the bridal fashion world...and doing well! Who knew?
I love it. I CAN'T WAIT for Chicago! -
My mom told me a few years ago that on her wedding day this thought actually crossed through her mind: "Well, if it doesn't work out, we can just get divorced."
I can safely say that I did not have that thought on my wedding day. Jared and I are both 100% committed to making our marriage work. This doesn't mean that we will absolutely not no never no way no how get divorced - but we are both firmly committed to do everything we can to avoid it.
I know way too many people who are children of divorced parents or are actually divorced themselves to delude myself into thinking that every marriage can be saved. People change, and if they grow so far apart that it doesn't make sense to be together anymore, then separate. Divorce may not always be the best decision, but you know - neither is marriage. -
Haha! My old roommate/still awesome wonderful friend Shea graduated from Deerfield in '97.
Yup, I think I totally know Chris. SUCH a small world. UGA in general is a seriously small place. :) -
I agree 100%. We definitely need to hang out sometime!
And is it weird if I mention that I think I know your husband? One of my best friends is from Albany, and I think we had some mutual friends in Athens. Did he go to Deerfield? -
I'm on my couch watching the Office.
I kind of use the internet at work - I check the shop email, the shop facebook, my facebook, and the news. I save most of my personal stuff for at home. And I'm home on Mondays and Wednesdays - I have the weirdest schedule EVER. -
I ran the 2006 Chicago Marathon. I've also run three half marathons, and I finished one in under two hours. I'm seriously proud of all of those things, but mostly the marathon. I mean, hello...26.2 miles is FAR.
I'm also really proud of the fact that I figured out how to drywall my guest bathroom all by myself. Google is an amazing thing. -
Ha. My UGA email was DOS-based. Nobody used it, but everyone had an email that was yourname@arches.uga.edu, and you had to navigate it with function keys - and this was in the aol age, so it was even archaic then. I mean, come on. I started college in 1997. I'm 30, not 80.

Biting my fingernails. Every once in a while, I grow them out and I'm so excited about how pretty they look. And then I get nervous or anxious (or drunk - oops) and I bite them all off again.
Like Tuesday...my nails looked good, and I was plotting my next manicure. But then one of my brides went crazy and refused to pay the balance on her gown because the sides are shorter than she remembered. And it totally stressed me out, because hello - you signed a contract with us to pay for the entire gown, the manufacturer delivered what you ordered, and if you want to make it longer, we can totally do that during alterations with absolutely no problem at all. But you have to finish paying for the dress first.
Instead, she made it way difficult, and it totally stressed me out. Bye bye fingernails. -
Charleston!
Miami!
LA!
New Orleans!
I would be very very interested in next year's Bee Get-Together. As far as Vegas, I just felt too much like an "old married Bee" who wouldn't really fit in. That's why I didn't go.
And then I saw the pictures, and I was VERY sad. -
Aw, thanks. :)
He's looking particularly dapper today because I just picked him up from the groomer.
Jared has some allergies, and some dander really bothers him. His parents used to have a Scottie, so he knew that that breed wouldn't aggravate him as much as some others would.
I love dogs in general, so it didn't matter to me in the slightest what breed we got, and I think Jared did a great job! I know that my sweet Knowshon isn't a "typical" Scottie - he's not very stubborn or standoffish. He's sweet and cuddly and a total lap dog.
Honestly, I could gush about him all day. He's the best. -
My house is *usually* clean, but not always neat. I have a tendency to just set things down and not put them away until....well, later. Jared is the opposite - he's not a cleaner, but he has to have everything put away. You'd think those two characteristics would complement each other, but they don't, really. :)
I also rarely make the bed. So that would be my answer. Making the bed is the thing that I usually do for company. Pretty sad. -
My favorite part of having Knowshon is the fact that he adds another totally distinct personality to our household. He's so funny and sweet and unceasingly loving. He gets so excited when we come home, or we say the word treat, or we ask him if he wants to go out - he starts dancing in a circle, as if he can hardly contain himself. It's awesome. Plus, he's the cutest.
My least favorite part of having a dog is the fact that it seriously limits our spontaneity. Not that we're all that spontaneous anyway, but having another being that we're totally responsible for definitely hinders our ability to drop everything and go. -
Dude. We both love wine, football, and weddings? We're definitely the most awesome people EVER.
Plus, I love your answers to the questions I ask.
Also, I think I only have two people following me. :)

I don't play dress up at work anymore. But I still love my job.
