I haven't read a thing on the new Genshiken, so no clue what my thoughts on it would be.
I haven't heard about the upcoming HBO series either. Sorry, these answers are lame but I really don't know anything about these shows you mentioned. Not particularly interested to look them up either. I'll see when they come out. -
I think P4 has more replayability. I'm not sure which one I'd say I'd like more.
Yeah, I'm going to play FFXIV for a bit when it relaunches. -
I played the first one. I'm not really into zombie stories so it didn't really appeal to me.

LoL is an MMO now?
I still log into GW2 occasionally and I'm crossing my fingers that FFXIV wont' suck, but it probably will. -
I prefer stronger narratives and dialogue in my games, so Persona.

I was going to update. I'm still going to update. Just... shrug. It's in limbo somewhere.

First question: I just emulate the type of analysis I like to read.
Second question: Probably not. -
Saving Private Ryan is a great movie. Certainly not a movie with a strong female character. Shawshank Redemption's only female character commits adultery. So no, a story doesn't need a strong female character. But if you're going to have a female character, it would help if she wasn't pathetic, y'know? But it's not even that simple. Within the context of anime -- and its rather poor record with regards to gender portrayal -- you can't help but raise an eyebrow if main female character is a ditz.
To further complicate matters, I don't even care to judge whether or not Death Note is "an objectively good show," whatever that means. I merely expressed the opinion that I disliked it. Maybe it's a good show that I simply don't enjoy. -
Since I'm a cis, hetero male, I'm afraid my oppression index isn't high enough to hang with the Tumblrites.

Other cultures eat balut. I only called it balut cause it's the name most familiar to Westerners.

I don't think I've seen a worthwhile example in anime.

The only SMT games I haven't played are some of the obscure ones and the handheld ones. I don't like handhelds.

Been years since I've seen it. Personally, I found it mildly entertaining enough until about the 20 episode mark. By that point, Light became too unlikeable for me to actually enjoy the show.

Yes, I've played P3. I then got P3:FES then played it all over again. I didn't play it a third time, however, for the PSP, so no, I didn't get to play as the girl. I didn't feel like buying a it full price nor going through the game without all my fancy personas.
Yeah, P3 is definitely darker than P4. I don't think that's deniable. Hell, P3 stuck with the MegaTen universe's penchant for depressing endings, which P4 broke away from. I think P3 definitely seems grander, more purposeful, etc. In that sense, maybe P3 feels more important and urgent to get through. Having said that, I just think the character interactions in P4 are superior. In that sense, it was more enjoyable to go through and experience. P4's protagonists felt like closer friends than the super cool city kids in the previous game. -
I mean, let's be honest. Organic storytelling doesn't fall neatly into one or two cours. You are as long as you need to be... nothing more, nothing less. The problem with TV series -- and this applies to everything above and beyond anime -- is that you can't end your show at some atypical number of episodes like 17. It's got to be 2-cours! So we needlessly pad out a story, killing its rhythm completely. The flip side of the problem is that a show is too long, and needs to be only 1-cour. But y'know what? I feel as though this isn't as big of a problem, because editing a story down often forces its creators, writers or what have you to focus on what's important, what simply cannot end up on the cutting room floor. This doesn't always happen, but I always prefer to be missing the entire picture as opposed to being bored.
Anyway, longest anime series I've ever watched was Monster. -
Never got into any of the Ghost in the Shell stuff. Kino's alright. Samurai Champloo has a great opening episode, a great finale and a bunch of mildly interesting episodes in between. Hellsing's not my style.

Great Teacher Onizuka.

I don't watch anime for romance. It's not even that it's bad. The way Japanese culture approaches courtship is just not really something that jives with me.
