Look deeply into the phrase: love at first sight. It could mean that I loved you from the first time I saw you. I think it means that I loved you by first sight. I saw something in you that I couldn't find in any other woman, and knew that I had loved you. It could be from our five senses that triggers love, but ultimately I have to see something in you that makes me love you. Love at first sight. I remember when I fell in love with my first, it was because I saw in him a soft side that was gentle to me, and caring to me. I knew that I loved him when I saw him and didn't want him to go away. But the reference was the fact of meeting or introduction to him confirming my love for him, but the simple fact that I saw something in him to make me fall in love. And in due time, that love grew into me being in love with him, because it takes time to be in love.

Another, especially for me, is hurt from previous relationship(s). People form high expectations after others shortcoming, and make it difficult for the ones to follow to meet those expectations and standards. Putting up redflags and standards makes it difficult for anyone to become close, and in essence limits a person, leaving you the ability to read what this person is about.

Another reason, in my case, would be settling. See, with a relationship, it is hard to settle with an idea that this could lead into marriage. It is even more difficult to maintain a relationship when you know that your life is leading you places that the other person may not necessarily want to go. I know for a fact for me that I will have a difficult time finding a man that will want to follow me wherever I go, because it is expected for me wanting to settle with him. I know my life is going somewhere beyond Asheville, but who is to say that it will lead me somewhere a man would want to as well? Women are meant to be submissive and followers, not leaders in a relationship.
