I think the real question is will America end before Football?

Too many economical factors play into the NFL. Stadiums, Merch, surrounding local businesses, licensing rights, TV rights, etc. PLUS all of the employees of the mentioned businesses PLUS college football. The NFL will adapt to make sure it success.

There are way way too many barriers to entry to start up a league competitive to the NFL. Look how the XFL did. Napster was shut down because it was illegal, playing football is not. The rules/game will adapt to make sure players are safe.

I certainly hope not. Hopefully the past 3 months are not an indicator of the rest of the season (there was skiing on the 4th of July in Squaw last year). There is always hope!
