Hah, well, I am a long way from Chris Brogan status - and to be honest, I'm not modeling myself after his success. He clearly is extremely successful and I have nothing but respect for his work ethic, but I never aim to be a "Social Media guru".
With that being said, what he does, or any of those at the "top" of the Social Media Game - involves a lot of time and effort. Like any relationship, it takes time to develop - to earn trust and respect from your peers, readers, clients, and customers. The first thing you MUST do is break free of the "NOW" mindset. Social Media, as a marketing tool, requires real time and effort on your part. It truly is a "get what you give" medium. -
Wow - so the first FIVE people that came to mind were @rikin311 @EvaRykr @sameve @gracekboyle and @samdavidson.
Rikin is doing big things up in NYC with Edelman - we don't talk as much as I'd like but I know we are both crazy busy guys and I have a ton of respect for what he does (just wish he'd get back on the blogging bandwagon more often).
Eva is staying busy as well - we've lost touch a bit but recently reconnected, looking forward to catching up with her.
Sam and I are great friends. She's helped me through a lot of the transitions in my life over the past year and I'm very grateful to be able to call her a good friend. Now I just need to get my ass up to NYC to finally meet her (and a slew of other people).
Grace is someone I greatly admire. When I was moving up to Chicago I followed her closely, as she had gone through a similar transition just prior to my leap of faith. Knowing that she did it, and came out OK, gave me a lot of confidence to take the leap myself. To this day she is one of my favorite bloggers.
And then there's Sam Davidson. Sam and I knew each other before I got on board the Social Media bandwagon and we've been great friends for years now. Not to mention, Sam is marrying my fiancé and I - which is frickin' sweet. Never would've expected we'd be such good buddies 4 years ago when he came to speak to Dr. Lambert's marketing class. -
I love whoever asked this. I can't answer why it turns gray sometimes (maybe when God is sad?) but here is a GREAT resource for "why the sky is blue" - including fun projects you can do with the whole family! :)

Being that I am born and raised in Nashville - Chicago is pretty (very different). The entire lifestyle is different, much more fast paced, and can be overwhelming at times. But what I love is the melting pot of diversity and innovative ideas in this city. SO many people doing such amazing things - it keeps you on your toes, it keeps your mind sharp and forces you to be at your best. It's hard for me to believe it's already been almost a year since I packed my bags and moved here - but so far, I've loved every minute of it (that's not to say I don't miss Nashville - sometimes more than I thought I would).

BE YOURSELF. The minute you lose track of who you are or try to become someone you're not, you're dead in the water. Your readers/customers/connections will see right through you - not to mention, you'll get burned out acting like something or someone that you're not. The number one thing people connect with online (whether with an individual or a brand) is TRANSPARENCY. By being yourself and allowing others to see the "real" you - you'll develop great connections and long-lasting friendships.
Some people will doubt you - some will doubt whether you're genuine or full of shit - but as long as you stay true to yourself, you'll carry yourself without worry and regret. Be yourself - the rest will fall into place. -
Too many. The amount of time spent on each design varies obviously based on the scope and detail of the individual project. Work is crazy busy right now, but such is the nature of the beast when you're launching a business, right? It's all about establishing processes and managing the expectations of your clients (and yourself). It's VERY much a learning process but I love every minute of it. Pair the long work hours with planning a wedding and you have a recipe for being pretty worn out. I'm looking forward to getting into a rhythm and establishing a more steady work-flow, rather than the "all-at-once" insanity that has been the past couple months.

Good question. It could be a number of things. We've tested the videos using the latest version of Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari, and Internet Explorer. If you're running an outdated version (especially IE) you may not be able to see the videos. Also, if your flash player is out of date, things may not show up correctly. Feel free to shoot me an email (address to the left) if you're still unable to view after updating.
