Tennis practice of course! Favorite drills have someone feed the ball in, and four people play a point out live - instead of a pro feeding a ball in to a line of people stepping up to hit one shot at a time, then back to the end of the line. Favorite shot to practice: Overhead smash!

I don't even know what ones are coming out. This is terrible for a creative - unless it speaks to the quality of the output from Hollywood - but, really, nothing that's a sequel or a summer blockbuster. What would be the point of seeing something that's already been done fifteen hundred times already?

Waaaay more than a few weeks ago. Several good friends came to my rescue, and I'm getting off my butt and attacking the real problem - which is one particular project that's been going nowhere for far too long. When that's up and live, I'll feel really human again.

There were lots of nice places in Israel. The apartment we stayed in outside Tel Aviv was not among them. Other than that, my parents had a penchant for dragging me along to their business meetings when I was a kid and then leaving me outside to play, they figured, when it wasn't really warm enough to play and my mother should have known that I had about as much interest in playing outside like a normal kid as in running through the yard naked. (I should have brought a book and asked to sit in the car reading if I couldn't be in the house where it was warm.)

I really did like Paris and London better than Israel - but maybe Montreux, Switzerland, better than Paris and London. Not sure.

Me, only with three to four more clients - in technology, finance, business services or construction supply (cabinets, plumbing, electrical) with revenues of $5-100 million a year, who need upgraded branding and web identities that will help them justify price increases and expand profit margins. Plus business-building marketing programs and sales promotions that drive revenues at those new price points.

If you want to be a writer, be a writer. (Of course, I still insist on being a designer too. The part I didn't take was giving that up - and I keep adding skillz - I'm kind of a compulsive learner.)

Too much of a talker, methinks. What say you, FriendFeeders and real-life peeps?

Put 75% of it into the most aggressive Artesys Defensive portfolio Bob Jones has these days. Then plow the rest right back into my business.

In grammar school, a doctor. Then, in high school, a lawyer. In college, a sportscaster/writer - and then, when i picked advertising, I transferred away from my liberal-arts program to design school.

Wayne, I'd head straight for the bar at the Ritz in Half Moon Bay. But first I'd text Robert Scoble and make sure he was going to be there!

Our son is going to Ultimate Frisbee camp in Wisconsin the second week of July, and we live in Missouri. So @dickmoomaw and I are going to drive him to Madison and then spend four or five days up there vacationing by ourselves - possibly including a trip to see Baum relatives in Pittsville - before we pick him up again and come home to St. Louis. Also a possibility: the Kohler resort.

John, there's some sort of program that will work for every business. The most productive rewards program for the vast majority of companies is going to be a referral program - haven't you done training on referral programs before?

Even the very smallest businesses - consultants and professionals, with limited capacity for big client lists - can use these, and they can be as simple as event tickets or dinner out with friends who refer leads - made formal with an announcement on Facebook and Twitter, with the details and a nice-looking printable certificate in a special area on the firm's actual web site. The firm could even set up a Zazzle shop with the firm logo on a few pieces of merch and let the referrer pick out a present, as a way to thank out-of-town referrers. (Or, forget the branding angle and just send a pound of really good chocolate, or some steaks . . . whatever's appropriate to the revenue that new client's going to bring in.)

The next step up might be for an actual bricks-and-mortar business, or a firm with more clients - perhaps a professional office or a restaurant/bar, or a personal trainer. Then you could tie in a location-based checkin service with Facebook Likes - add rewards from a no-upfront-overhead online shop - and, again, you're good to go with very little cash outlay until the program starts producing results. There the firm can go for trials as well as referrals, and add rewards fro frequency, making up the rules to suit short- and long-term profit goals. And at this point it might be worth testing some neighborhood-targeted postcard mailings.

Of course, as you get referrals, a business is going want to look at its overhead and get unit costs down. The personal trainer who's using Zazzle for the first five referrals will want to find lower-overhead suppliers - and be able to keep some inventory - at the point that s/he needs to reward people with shirts or hats for 50 new clients a month.

So that's the small-business case. I also spent nearly 20 years in and around Maritz Inc., working with all manner of customer-focus issues in the enterprise . . .
