      There are many situations that could have occured:

      1) The place he stayed at was called "There-for-a-3-days (sic)" and he didn't like his stay so he returned home.

      2) He is a time travelling cowboy (much like Marty and Doc were in Back to the Future part III)

      3) Most plausible: His horse is named Friday
