How old is this kitten? Kittens ~6weeks old and 4-6 months old tend to want to bite because they are teething. Tap her nose and tell her NO firmly when she does that.

It is best if you mesh if you do open your windows. Cat can be attracted by birds flying outside and suddenly want to climb the window to catch the birds, or they may climb the windows if they experience stress of any kind. Unless you never ever open your windows, please mesh them for your cat's safety.

There are clinics that can spay nursing mothers but it won't be at a subsidised stray cat rate. The window between lactation and going on heat is very small, few days at the most. Best thing you can do is to wait till the kittens are about 6-8 weeks old then send her to a clinic that can spay lactating mothers e.g. Mt Pleasant. Scientifically it CAN be done now but she may abandon her kittens when she returns and if they are still dependant on milk the kittens will be at risk. Another option is to send the mother to the clinic together with her kittens. Clinic staff can oversee to make sure there is no break in the mother-kitten relationship, but this will likely cost you extra.

We advise cat caregivers to do the same to inhumane traps as well. However whether it is an offence to or not, we don't know for sure - so do exercise some discretion. Even if it isn't illegal it might cause some unnecessary dispute. To solve the problem in the long run, link up with Cat Welfare Society to help mediate the situation - resident complaints - that brought the traps into your estate in the first place.

They euthanise the cats but not immediately, they can be redeemed to a private home address if the right procedure is followed with the paperwork.

That's a bit safer. But we have not met any caregivers who do that, so we can't be certain of he pros and cons of this idea.

By age of 3 weeks they will be able to eliminate ontheorbown, slower ones will just pee where they are, quicker ones can be litter trained.

A collar is not a foolproof measure but some pest control contractors will not trap cats for culling if there is a collar. You needn't put your number, as this might lead to a misunderstanding that you own a cat and aren't keeping it indoors as you are supposed to. Hope this helps.

Yes but might be too salty. Buy human range of canned tuna in water, add the water to the cat's water. If eating is also a problem, he may have ulcers or gum inflammation and other related diseases that will require veterinary attention

There are two reason why kitty is doing this. One, kittens grow out their adult teeth between 4-6 months of age. This cause discomfort and therefore a need to chew on something to alleviate it. Second, kitty sees your leg or your pant leg or foot as a toy. To remedy, buy chew toys for teething for your cat. Pet Lovers' Centre will have them. Also, when kitten bites your leg, discipline with a loud "no!" using his name, or make a loud nose like clapping. Then redirect him to another toy e.g. a wand toy with dangling bits (mimicks pants legs) or toys that can move - battery operated or simply use the same wand toy and drag / flick the toy. This will mimick your foot moving. Stick to this regime of understanding why he does it, and using positive and negative reinforcements.

If the growls are low growls with the cat in defensive stance i..e. flattened ears, arched back etc - then the cats hate each other and will fight. If they are playing with each other in play fighting there will be noise but it would be light swiping and kicking without their claws extended. Hissing could mean that the hissing cat doesn't want to be disturbed at the moment e.g. when she is eating. Other times no hissing means they are assimilated. If you feel that the fighting is more like the first instance we mentioned - defensive stance - we recommend that you buy Feliway, a diffuser that calms cats down and make them feel they all share the same territory because of Feliway's diffusing of cat pheremones into the house. You can find this product here: http://www.thewaterdish.com.sg/brands.html?cat=350 We use the diffuser in our foster home too - no fighting. Hope this helps!

At this age (you mentioned 2 months) they do not need their mother anymore. Rejection is no longer an issue. The mother can be neutered immediately and you should do that now because it is likely she is already just pregnant again. We would suggest that you consider relocating them to a safer location, by luring them with food and feeding them daily at that location. Unless they have very strong survival skills (very feral, wary of humans, easily startled by loud noises - all signify a strong sense of being predatory) they would not acclimatise easily when released in 3-4 months' time. If the luring technique doesn't work after you try your best, the foster-neuter-release option at this age of the kittens' lives should be the last resort.

Hi. It depends on whether the 3 kittens are in any danger now. If they are in an area that is a high-kill-zone (e.g. directly in the middle of fast moving traffic) or if they are pawing and playing with random humans passing by that might end up complaining, or if their feeder is feeding them very messily and doesn't clear up the litter (also inviting complaints) - then it may be wise to foster them, neuter then release. Strays (especially if mix of male and female) come into heat at about 5 mths old, viable for sterilisation. If however, the kittens look fine and do not fulfill the environmental criteria stated above, leave the kittens be, because they might not be able to acclimatise very well when returned 3-4 mths later - some cats do, some don't, we won't know too well in advance.

FeLV is a tricky disease. Cats can test positively for it, then develop immunity towards it, and when tested again (usually 3 months after) they become FeLV negative. Only about 30% of FeLV positive cats develop very severe infections. Of this 30%, 80% will live up to 3 years only, yes. The key is to manage stress because stress compromises the immunity of your cat, which may bring on infections. Treat her as normal, if you are worried, she will be worried and therefore stressed too. Consider immune boosting supplements. As for your other cat, keep the vaccinations current, retest both cats annually. The way FeLV is transmitted is through saliva - you may want to use separate food and water bowls: this is because as in all vaccinations, FeLV vaccine is not 100% effective. Hope this helps.

Cats will definitely meow away like mad most of the time when they are being showered. You can calm him down before the shower with products like Bach Rescue Remedy or NutriVet Pet Ease. Showers are good for checking under the fur for growths and such, so it is good to shower your cat!
