yes on the camera deal. I shoot with a Canon 5D Mark II and Canon 1Ds. I like that the 1Ds gives such incredible clarity when I'm shooting portraits and the 5D rocks too.. but is much better in low light than my 1Ds. The ISO is crazy! Lens wise.. I shoot with my 35mm 1.4 most of the time. I love love love it and would pick it as my fav if I had to only choose one! I also pack my wide angle 14-70mm and my 70-200mm 2.8 for the telephoto goodness. ;)

To be honest. I'd go for a Canon 5D Mark II. This camera blows my mind and when starting the biz it is the camera everyone suggested if I wanted to be serious. So I'll be paying off that puppy for a while! As far as Canon vs Nikon goes. I just checked out pictures from both.. handled both and really liked the Canon better. To be honest again, I can't tell you why. Maybe it just fit better in my hand. ;)

For me? Not yet. Not for a while I'm afraid. I started my business by purchasing what I found to be "the best of the best" equip and am paying it off with session & wedding $$ as I go. As things come up we put it on the biz credit card and will eventually come out on top! I thinking late 2010 we'll throw a party for making a buck! ;)

Education degree, no photography degree. I took a 101 class at Pellissippi and only went to about 50% of the classes. I went to the ones I thought I'd benefit from. Most of my learning came from carrying around a canon for a few years non stop and an 8 hour mentor session with a great photographer in Seattle!

I'm really really happy with the Canon Rebel. That's what I started out with. It was literally an extension of my arm for years. It's serisouly wondeful. I think the new one has 15megapixel.. You'll love it!

Canon 5D Mark II.. I also have a Canon 1Ds Mark III.. but tend to favor the 5D for some reason.

MY favorite camera is the Canon 5D Mark II.. amazing low light capabilities! Rent lenses at first from LensRentals.com, edit your pictures with Adobe Lightroom and then get Photoshop later and market yourself like crazy on social media outlets! It's free and the BEST tool for me! Does that help?

Neither. I'm not sure if my camera has a macro setting, maybe it does. I use my 17-40mm for the close-up shots!

100% The Canon Rebel! It comes with a good lens for what you're wanting to take pictures of. I would suggest getting a lens with a low aperture (1.8 - 2.8) or a zoom lens. Check out B&H photo (online) for good prices and even used equip! Good luck!

I'm guessing this means how do I chill out... a good book about marketing!
-
Actually, I'm about to do one this weekend. I think I'd like to stick to couples and weddings though.

I love the iMac. I'm a Mac geek so might be a little biased. I have a samsung monitor hooked up to it and hate the way my images look on it. Big time photogs that can afford the non-reflective monitor use it and recommend it. I love my pics on Apple!
