I rarely use official sources, but I do have several unofficial sources and also my own bag of tricks

sometimes the idea comes to me and I can hear the mashup in my head, sometimes I play around with dozens of different songs and wait for a happy accident.
with the exception of one band, feedback from the original artist has always been positive -
there is no simple answer, the list of tricks is very long. But in general the is no easy way to "erase" vocals or extract them.
