Ten years... Are we both crazy or what? :)

My wife has friends in NYC so I suspect I'll definitely be over there in the next couple of years for sure. I will be in touch. Two questions back at you: (a) are there any bars in or around 177a Bleeker Street?(b) can your alien physiology cope with our earth alcohol?

I have a personal twitter that is pretty easy to find if you want to stalk me. I don't update it that often.

I use Google Reader to quickly surf stuff and some google alerts on various topics I'm interested in. I also use Yahoo Pipes to generate some custom RSS feeds (mainly aggregating groups of pages together).

      Twitters good for fresh links.

Two sources I look at a lot are Google Recommended Items in Google Reader (I use the like button and it's suggestions are good) and Popurls.com.

I'd add twitter linking and tumbling to that. I'd say we are all Jorn Barger now. You take your pick. The first page on the internet was a page of links to interesting things. Maybe the last one will be too... :)

I gave up on Blogger many years ago took the hit and converted over to Wordpress around the time they introduced the new templating system in Blogger.

I was on Barbelith but seem to recollect only contributing to the comics forum. It never really grabbed me - I've always preferred spending my time looking at blogs rather than online forums.

i enjoy struggling against the limitations of link-blogging but do go through phases of wanting to write longer pieces. I'd probably find writing longer pieces far to time consuming.

I would say the major change is the way personal blogging has spread out over a number of services (flickr, twitter, tumblr etc). back in the day I could follow your blog and get the full orbyn experience. not anymore. I think this is diminishing blogging - I though lifestreams might solve this but I find they are quite bland in practice.

I also miss the sense of community and the fun that was part early blogging but I suspect that as the community got larger it was impossible to sustain that.

zaphod is talking with a very limited vocab. he can say "mummy", "daddy", "nah" (no), "batman", "bubbles" and "teatime". we're very proud and obviously think he's a genius.

timemachinego came first by a few months - i'm a massive grant morrison fan and TMG being available as .com made it a no brainer. LinkMachineGo was suggested by my long suffering flatmate a bit later when i attempting to blog for the first time. I might also been influenced by Tom Coates barbelith site but don't remember exactly when i first looked at his site.
