I've never taken a formal photography class, just learning via trial and error. Doing project 365 (taking a photo a day) really accelerated the whole process because I am picking up the camera every day.
My favorite photoshop action is a grandma's tap shoes - it's part of Boutwell Studio's Totally Rad Action II set. You can read more about my photo processing in this post: http://paisleepress.blogspot.com/2009/11/best-thing-to-ever-happen-to-my-photos.html

Eeep, sorry I'm answering this so late. The camera is not available for purchase. No release date is scheduled yet, I'm still on the fence about whether to release it or not.

I'm not familiar with the process of creating fonts. I think you need a font making program to do the conversions.

There are guide grids (templates) that you should follow to ensure your layouts are printed correctly. Print specifications vary from vendor to vendor so once you decide on which vendor to use, make sure you check their print specs and format your pages accordingly.

      here's a link to shutterfly's: http://www.shutterfly.com/digitalscrapbook/books/specs.jsp?cid=CELEBRATION

      blurb's:

I listed the above two vendors because they are bookmarked on my computer. You can usually find the print specifications under the vendor's FAQ's

Wendyzine recently wrote a very informative post about printing. You can check it out here: http://thedailydigi.com/how-to-guide-printing-photobooks-and-albums-for-digital-scrapbookers/
