not at ALL. not in the least. it's really encouraging actually, and i wish you'd say hi! i made some of my best irl friends through lj, and i miss those glory days a lot.

because the thought of all those photobooth videos of me eating spaghetti and singing the theme song to the nanny just going to WASTE made me much too sad.

you mean constructive criticism? i try to stay as objective as i can throughout the writing process, and before, say, a workshop, i'll have a mirror pep talk with myself as a reminder that i am not my work and vice versa. that's for real life writing. i like praise of course, but when it comes to my fiction writing, it's only useful when it's specific. by figuring out what's good i can figure out what can be better.
i guess i'm not sure what you mean by "on the internet" - when my online writing is criticized, or when i'm criticized by someone online? -
for writing, yes: i sit down at my desk with a (giraffe) mug of coffee or tea, and do not get up until something i wanted to accomplish has been accomplished. the drink helps because it a. eliminates one excuse to get up (OH I SHOULD GO TO THE KITCHEN B/C I'M THIRSTY AND PEOPLE CAN DIE OF THIRST) and b. allows me something to stir and sip on mindlessly, which occupies my hands so i can focus my brain. this winter, our little portable heater has been invaluable, for both the heat and white noise. for maximum results, i get up a couple hours earlier than usual in the morning and work then.

FLATTERY! IS THIS FLATTERY? i love this question! i wish i had an interesting answer. during winter, i am mostly pre-packaged, and buy a lot of clothes at urban outfitters. BUT i really love getting dressed, and will turn bloodhound in order to track something cute to its source, so my (totally messy) closet as a whole is a mishmash from a bunch of different places.

ahh i'm so glad! thank you! no plans for another book as of yet - lemme get through grad school and then we can revisit this topic.

haha man, i should have anticipated this one. everyone else is more concerned about it than we are! the possibility has been broached but it is not a big concern at the mo.
