Do you ever wish you were born in another country? If so, which country and why?
nope.
Firstly, I don't feel defined my my geography in many ways except that I obviously totally karmically lucked out.
I was born to upper middle class people in a quiet town in a developed nation. I didn't have to deal with riots or wars or famine or military juntas or ancient disease or religious persecution. I had access to clean water, education and doctors and more consumer goods than I had a right to.
That's not to say that my adolescence wasn't a special kind of hell, like everyone's is, but my emotional, self absorbed horror was allowed to play out without my having to contend with the true horrors of this world.
I've traveled a lot, and would like to set foot on the soil of as many countries as I can before I die. I can do this, though, because I have access to jobs and superfluous cash that isn't immediately eaten up by the rigors of daily life. I can get passports and find travel agents and seat sales and fancy luggage.
I think I'm about the luckiest girl alive.
