I've always dyed my own hair in these crazy ways to the point that my mom's hairstylist told me that I need to do it for a living. She told me to enroll so I started looking into it. I really didn't have any experience before I went to school so I struggled a LOT in cosmetology school the first couple of months. They went at a pace that was even too fast for the girls who knew what they were doing.. Of course you will have a leg up. :]
My best tips are to be open to learning (everywhere! do friend's hair, watch youtube make-up videos, you may find a hidden talent/passion!), advertise yourself (do your own style & when people say "nice nails!", tell them to come to the school or give them a business card so you can practice & already have a clientele when you graduate), & practice! Have fun with it. Good luck!!
