I started this blog right after I got married in 2008, I wanted to share and keep the memories I was making as a newlywed. It has since evolved into a décor, design & fashion blog.

My husband is the cook in our family. However, I do make a pretty good potato salad.
Potatoes, celery, red onion, eggs, add mayo, little mustard & white vinegar and voila! -
I have a big house – well for two people & a small dog at least. With four bedrooms and 3 bathrooms if I don’t do least one chore a day by the time the weekend rolls around I get overwhelmed. I’m not a clean freak, but I don’t like clutter. Brad and I divide our house work. My areas are the bathrooms & bedrooms, his is the kitchen & yard and we both vacuum and dust. My advice - do a little bit every day & divide chores between family members.

My normal day starts around 7 am (I have to be at work at 8:30) I get ready, take Nico out and feed her (if Brad hasn’t done it already) check my blog, Facebook and bank account. I work from 8:30-5. Head to the gym after work (3-4 times a week if I’m good). Back to the house to have dinner with Brad. Clean around, make my lunch for the next day and work on posts for the next couple of days. I read a couple of magazines, watch TV and head to bed at around 11 pm. Pretty boring during the week!

My favorite song is Guava Jelly by Bob Marley followed by Painted Black by The Rolling Stones and Boys Don’t Cry by The Cure.

We are! 2010 has always been the year we wanted to start trying. This was actually determined even before we got married in 2007. We knew we wanted to be married for at least 3 years and I wanted to be 30 (I will be in December).

My decorating style is definitively “Modern Glamour” I like a modern esthetic but I also like a touch of sparkle around my house. As far as colors, my favorite is gray. I have several shades around my house, every other color just complements it. Bottom line, if I like it I use it! :)

Ideally I would like to own a boutique/ home store. This has been a dream for years. Maybe in a couple of years I can make it happen!

My blog started as a personal project in 2007 and it has grown to be so much more. I’ve gotten to “meet” so many wonderful, talented people. I would love for it to keep growing, it’s already brought me so many opportunities. I can’t wait to see what else is in store for Layers of Meaning.

This is a hard one, my all time favorite is Bob Marley but as far as a band I would have to say UB40. My husband and I danced to “They way you do the things you do” (both UB40 & The Temptations versions) at our wedding.

Some posts are planned further in advance than other but none are planned more than a week in advance. I like to keep my content fresh & new so most of the posts are planned a day or two ahead.

I live in Augusta, GA. I have never met anybody driving through my town. Why are you coming? :)The only fellow bloggers that I’ve been are Eddie & Jaithan, both really wonderful guys.

I work for Marriott in Augusta, GA. I do all of the creative work for the hotel. Ads for newspaper & magazines, promotions, update our restaurant’s website.

It would have to be my sense of smell. I’m already very particular about smells so I think I would miss it the least.

My bedroom, it’s been my on going project. We bought our house in November 2008 and we’ve been decorating ever since. We still need a few things for our bedroom. We are upgrading to a king size bed, getting a new dresser, headboard & adding some X benches. Stay tuned for the big reveal in the next couple of months.
