I've thought about this question a lot! Obviously, I'd like to report from conventions, but I'd especially love to interview notable otaku about their lives and their accomplishments.

Moms will forgive just about anything. She still loves you. I think this is something that can't be explained away, so just ask her to respect your privacy and never bring it up again. It'll just make her uncomfortable.

My daily routine is soooo different now that I work full time. I get up around 7:30, check my feed reader, and make a bento (unless I made one the night before). I work for hours, try to put up my blog post at noon, and work some more. After work these days, my boyfriend and I go to the gym, shower, and cook dinner. Then it's Battlestar Galactica time!

On the weekends, I see my personal trainer, eat Pho, and write my blog posts for the week.

It could be because my name on there is OtakuJournalist, not laureninspace. Let me try to friend you.

Episode 2 of the podcast is CURSED. The first time we tried recording it, I started coughing up blood and had to deal with that instead. THEN, we recorded last night and something was seriously wrong with the sound! We're trying again tonight, so I can edit it over the weekend.

There's a lot of reasons I don't make my political views well known. First of all, I went to journalism school where my teachers suggested that a good journalist shouldn't even vote, much less express their political views -- what if I started working for a bipartisan newspaper and they found out? Second, my views are always evolving. I started debating in high school and learned to research and discover more about each side of an issue.... but between you and me, I'm pretty progressive about social issues like gay marriage and womens' rights. Honestly, if that bothers somebody, I don't WANT to work for them.

I've lived in the greater Washington area since I was 7, so naturally, I've seen all the monuments and the Air and Space Museum tons of times. But while I was in high school and college, my visits were limited to events like the Cherry Blossom Festival (which I still attend every year.)

I didn't live in DC proper until graduate school. Now I'm never leaving!

Lauren Con 2011 will be "unconference" style, where attendees can design their own panels, have others vote on which panels they want to attend the most, and will make a schedule from there. There will also be plenty of space for interviews, video taping, and podcast recording. There will be lounge areas for attendees to sit down for a moment and perhaps meet new friends.

Lauren Con will be located in a hotel chosen for its convenience to multiple cheap dining options. It will also be accessible from local transit.

Lauren Con will be free to attend. Money to print the programs, pay guests, etc. will come from advertisers and sponsors. For example, badges will be printed for free but say "sponsored by Funimation" on the bottom.

Instead of multiple semi-known guests, Lauren Con will invite one major celebrity guest, perhaps Jonathan Coulton, with an appeal to attract new people to the convention that may not have considered attending before. However, this guest's concert will cost money -- a charity donation. This is because cons should help out more fans than just those attending.

Thanks, Spencer. This is the best question ever.

This is a tough one, since I never actually followed the seasons until writing for Japanator! A really great year for anime in general though, was my freshman year of college (2005-2006). I watched very little anime in high school since I had so many extracurriculars and since my parents didn't really understand my obsession. College, however, prompted an anime reawakening. I watched Kare Kano, Digi Charat, Trigun (again), some of Bleach, Fruits Basket, and a few others!

My all-time favorite is Count D from Pet Shop of Horrors. I also like Vampire Hunter D (but not Initial D haha).

Other favorites include Miwako from Paradise Kiss, Sakaki from Azumanga Daioh, and Madarame from Genshiken.

I don't have a lot of anime-related possessions because I prefer to give them away on my blog as soon as I review them! Right now, I'm loving my copy of "The Otaku Encyclopedia" that just came in the mail. Since then, it has become my constant reference guide.

A very old hardcover copy of the book "Little Women." This one was published in the 50s and my mother inscribed her name on the inside cover when she was 12. When I was 12, i wrote mine underneath it. If I ever have a daughter, I'll give it to her.

Don Draper, of course. What's so interesting about Mad Men is that all the characters have these horrible flaws, but you can't help caring about them anyway. This is especially true with Don.

What made me decide he was my favorite was the episode this past season inspired by the short story "The Swimmer" by John Cheever, setting Don squarely in the role of that story's protagonist. I can never resist a literary reference.

When I was 5, I was sitting on the diving board watching my dad do a chemical test on our pool, and I fell in with my clothes on. It was kind of surreal -- the kind of thing you remember 19 years later.

I read Wired religiously and have a subscription. I also subscribe to Real Simple, which has been my graphic design inspiration for years -- I even did a project on it in grad school.

Other than that, I read fashion and fitness magazines when I'm getting my nails done or at the gym on the stair climber.
