YESSSS. If I didn't have a book right now, I'd be drawing fanart after every single episode! I swear!

It's really more than just a show to me - that a fantastic creative team is telling an epic story centered around a strong female character, a narrative thread that's been traditionally reserved for white male characters, I am just overjoyed to see it become the successful powerhouse it is now.

The optimist in me just wants to believe this is a beginning of something special. Korra's success isn't a fluke and isn't the exception. Guys and girls want great characters and great stories. If it's thoughtful, beautifully made and compelling - it will be appreciated.

I hope the generation growing up with Atla and Lok takes them as inspiration and powers their own creative projects w/ the same philosophies. It would be a fantastic revolution.

Well, that depends. I browse through the internet for picture references and looking up info because of the convenience. But I borrow stuff from the library regularly - fiction, non-fiction, DVDs and comics. I guess they're "research" too but I don't really prefer one over the other. They're both resources I rely on to get my information.

Gonna cheat a little and stretch that to series bec. I haven't encountered many standalone GN's that have really moved me.

      1. Cardcaptor Sakura by CLAMP - Among their best work I think and absolutely sincere. Sakura is my favorite shojo heroine and looks fantastic in any outfit CLAMP puts on her.

      2. Fullmetal Alchemist - Arakawa is a master storyteller. The ending is totally brilliant which isn't something I can say for many series. This is my favorite comic. Period.

      3. Pluto - wanted an Urasawa series here and I really liked this one.

      4. The Sandman - While I didn't love all the Sandman stories, I enjoyed enough little snippets and themes in the series and really felt that ending.

      5. Eyeshield 21 - UGH. This is the only entry I'm conflicted over because this didn't have a stellar end. However, Yusuke Murata is a bloody genius and I can't NOT bring his art with me wherever I end up..

      BE GONE, ROBOT UNDERLING.

In all honesty though, stories about robots and sentience fascinate me. (A.I., Bicentennial Man, I, Robot, The Matrix are among my favorite movies, however flawed they were as narratives) I know a bunch of these are based on sci-fi literature which I hope to read more of soon. I want to better understand the genre because I'm interested in telling my own stories within it in the future.

I think it's because I love these stories so much that I immediately think about the impact of breakthroughs in technology and how it will affect the human experience whenever I see those creepy 'lifelike' or cute helpful robots show up on youtube. The themes brought up by the movies I've mentioned point to the negative effects in large and small ways and so I can't help but ally myself with their points of view.

A sweet new desktop w/ better specs than I currently have. My current 3 yr old sounds like a jet engine nowadays. Poor thing!

Hang out with other guys I think that are cool and society wouldn't consider it as flirting with guys who are not my boyfriend.

Probably Galactica Athena 'cause she's such an interesting figure and she's worked so hard to earn people's trust. Followed closely by Laura Roslin who's so unlike any woman I've ever met!!!

LOL, I'd say CLAMP then! I started drawing manga after watching the YYH anime, not the manga. But when I picked up their books and artbooks I was just blown away by their concepts and elaborate costumes. I think the bishies are still part of my work even if the crazy anatomy and bug-eyes aren't there anymore.

Books. They are my first love after all and while I love the craft of comics, animation and TV--when you boil it all down, they all started on written pages somewhere and the execution all in the mind's eye.

I love Anime Expo. It was my first huge convention and there are so many things to do there. I just think it's one of the best places to be an anime fan (and dance to anime music! ^_~)

I'm still reading Y: The Last Man. Started Fables, Hellboy, The League of Extraordinary Men. I've read some standalone graphic novels here and there (depending if it's in my library). Pretty picky about what I'd like but I'd read something if it's recommended.

I'd have to say it may be the first real comic pages I ever drew in High School. I've always thought about my art as something to share and those pages circulated and even got photocopied a few times. I was hooked to comic-making ever since!
