Well, I've liked Link/Zelda for a lot longer (more than 20 years), so that factors in a lot. There's also the fact that there are several different incarnations of both characters, so you get variety!

I've never really understood the term exactly. I THINK a hardcore gamer is someone who does things like level-grinding and competing. From what little I get of the labels, I believe I'm a softcore gamer; I do it often enough that I can hold my own in a geek forum, but it's not an activity I pursue with any kind of intensity.

Pokemon, I guess, since I possess about a tablespoon's worth of knowledge about it -- which is a lot more than I know about Digimon.
