Do you think about the future of your comic? Where will it be in one year? Five years? Longer?
Going into starting Last Res0rt, I spent a little time trying to figure out what it took to make a good comic, and decided there were only two things all the different comics that were doing any good seemed to have in common: 1) they updated at least once a week, and 2) they'd been around at least five years.
Safe to say, I've always had a certain amount of "the long haul" in mind, and as such I've promised myself I'd give the comic at least five years to see if it had legs. That's a "deadline" of April 1, 2012, so to speak -- though even if I were to end the comic, I'd at least make sure to finish out Volume Two, so that's leaning more towards a 2013 finish at the earliest if I decide to do so.
... 'course, it was quite the shock to me last year to figure out the comic makes a darn good resume piece, which is as much incentive to keep things going as long as I can, especially if certain projects take off in that timeframe. If I make it to Volume Three (2016!), I'll be happy.
