127 Hours, Inception, and True Grit will always stick out for me, the first for pure impact, the second for innovation, and the third for the dialogue and delivery.
Certified Copy will probably end up being the film that affected me the most that no one will ever see. And Another Year resonated mightily because it showed the very rare "positive relationship" angle. -

I think expectations are the root of most bias. Of course, we all have bias, and it's good to be up front about said bias, but wherever you can avoid marketing / expectations it's going to help. Tron: Legacy is a prime example. Three years of Comic-Con presentations meant the film had to be a home run to justify all the fuss. So, overall, I at least attempt to avoid hype. There are many films I haven't seen a trailer on when I head into review. That's the ideal situation, because judging against an artificial construct of expectations isn't particularly fair to anyone.

Amazon.fr has a VHS copy, that's all I see out there. Pretty cheap though, less than $20! :) http://www.amazon.fr/Arlette-VHS-Josiane-Balasko/dp/B000056NIL/

non-fiction? Yes. I think that's accurate. It's called "Conversations with Famous Strangers" and I fully expect Harper Collins to pass on it.

Never confuse popular appeal with quality. Occasionally they are the same, but not always. Nixon still has the largest victory in history, doesn't make him the best president.

Locally I prefer Pagliacci's (in the restaurant, not delivery) and Fondi. But I like NY Style best and have yet to find a truly great one in Seattle, even "A NY Pizza Place" isn't quite there. I've been told it's the water that goes into the crust.

Venezuelan cinema is hard to come across in America due to awful distributor habits. If we're talking central and south american movies I've probably seen the most out of Brazil.
Do I get any extra credit for being a liason to four south american students over the past five years through a volunteer organization called AFS? -
I read The Yearling when I was seven. Total rip. Probably Stephen King's "Eye of the Dragon." Or any Calvin & Hobbes.

I think a large one in a small group. That way you have the resources but keep the "team" feel which is needed to thrive.

I've thought about this one more than you'd think. Part of me wants to go with the whole "Southern Cross" vibe and name it "Music."
But I'm told you're supposed to name a boat after a woman, for luck. So I'd name mine "Frank."
No, I kid. I'd name it "Laura." There. Done. When can I pick it up? -
It's gotta be Sam Rockwell. That guy needs an Oscar, pronto.

I guess you have to define "know." The most talented person I've met is probably Joss Whedon, his mind operates on a different level.
Back in real life I'd have to say Sasha Pasulka who somehow knows coding, fashion, gossip, SEO, psychology and aeronautics in one brain. If I had Sasha's brain I'd be an evil dictator by now. -
Oddly enough, probably Gone with the Wind. It was a nice four hours at the cinema.
-
National Geographic... though I'm sure I'm forgetting something. Something crucial.

Christina Aguilera? Ashley Greene? Jennifer Connelly? Gal Gadot? Something like that.
-
Cannes Film Festival, though it wouldn't be a vacation.
