I think leica cameras are great but it's not easy to use, I'm not sure if you also want it for traveling and not hard settings.
first it really depends what you want to shoot exactly, nature, landscape, people, fast shots for travel etc
i know there are many cameras which seem they are great for everything, but there is this one camera that is good for the thing you want to appear very clear and in the way you want it.
you can see here a photographer using Leica D Lux5

always search for the people who use the camera u r looking for, to see if they got the results you want to have, i mean the quality of the image and what features that are good for you.
fuji finepix x100 has also the great shape, professional vintage shape of the camera that leica also has it. but you can't compare between them. I mean totally different quality, I also asked my friend who tried Leica.
fuji finepix was one of my first cameras that i owned for traveling and portraits, all family including me liked the special softness that give in the skin. I also like the colours in the photos that fuji take.
you can check here photographers' interview :
http://www.finepix-x100.com/en/reviews/photographer-aihara
you can also search for the results, which are really pretty good.
personally i will go for fuji finepix x100, it's an OMG camera, the price is cool, great less effort auto results, very light , small, and you can carry it around.
but if you want that professional camera that you own for a long time and you want to use it very professionally, then go for Leica, but you will have to learn all kind of settings how to capture and show good results with special filters and effect. It's very expensive camera but the users will tell you it worth the price.
thank you for your question :) -
yes sure i was thinking about what if it might be not the right now for your bag, so yes the panasonic DMC ZS10 /TZ20 is good.
http://panasonic.net/avc/lumix/compact/zs10_tz20/index.html
it comes with the perfect size, very easy setting and less effort for making the photos clear. -
please tell me if you need something lighter / smaller than the one i suggest

I think panasonic lumix fz100 is the perfect camera for you, you can have it in your bag, and it takes amazing full HD movies,
what is good about panasonic compact camera that it can gives you great clear skin for the faces and no effort in retouching them. also,
it can give you high clear images without complicated settings.
