You often respond to questions about unrevealed content in your comic with something like (and I apologize for the paraphrase), "It's no fun if I just tell you." This sounds like you want everyone to use -your- idea of fun. What say you? Am I wrong?
Yes, you are wrong.

Can you name your top 5 worst fandoms?
1) the ones that insert wishful-thinking gay relationships into everything and are unable to focus on anything else, including the actual merits of the material
2) movie/ television fandoms based on adaptations from another medium
I think that covers everything -

It doesn't matter what it is, someone is going to make all the characters fuck. I'm surprised I haven't seen Tintin blowing anthro Snowy on Tumblr by now. I think it's disgusting that this kind of thing is so prevalent nowadays. Not the interest in sex by itself, but how flippantly it is addressed. It makes a mockery out of actual gay relationships, and turns sex from an intimate act into a sideshow for hooting girls with no sense of self-control, and no desire to develop one. One can be open-minded and accepting of different kinds of love and intimacy without making a farce of them. The plot and the artistry of whatever has been created is ignored in favor of the false emotional high of inducing romance in people who don't exist. If this kind of shit isn't just as bad as misogynistic male-centric porn, then it's worse. Yes, I'm ranting.

if you could slap someone on the face right now, who would it be?
Kory.
Except I wouldn't slap her, Magnolia would, and it would be hilarious. -
so why does everybody hate this Tom Preston guy? he doesn't seem so bad to me, then again i barely know him
Go look at some of his work, and his response to others and the community at large. On the one hand he presents himself as representing cartoonists and growing artists (the title of his comic, "So, You're a Cartoonist," implies that he's speaking for a group), and on the other hand is so passive-aggressive and unfriendly towards any sort of challenge (be it friendly critique or even a difference in opinion about non-art topics) that you can't take him seriously. A growing artist is constantly challenging themselves and striving towards new opportunities. To not do that and yet try to be an example to others is damaging to your message and frankly stupid. If you don't believe me, look at his art. I remember reading Alex Ze Pirate for the first time a long while ago, maybe 2004 or 2005, and there hasn't been any significant improvement in his work since then.
About a month ago I was motivated enough to write him directly via Tumblr and let him know that people, especially professional artists weren't taking him seriously, and that it was not so much about his art as the way he presented himself to the art community (I am excluding most of his fans, who are girls in middle and high school). I also offered to help his image by explaining to him and possibly introducing him into the larger non-DeviantArt webcomics community. He said that he was interested, but evidently wasn't interested enough to find out what webcomic I do or to write me back of his own volition, which is basically what I expected. On the one hand he says he wants to improve, on the other hand he takes no serious steps to do so, even when they blatantly present themselves to him.
I can't see him advancing his art career unless he either gets better at drawing or fixes his personality. I think he's in his late 30's, and is pretty obstinate, so I'm not holding my breath. He could probably sustain himself via self-publishing indefinitely as long as he keeps churning out this same crap to his dedicated, if not very discerning, audience. If there's one thing that seems to be around no matter what generation, it's a group of teens with access to their parent's money who don't know any better.
Oh, and to answer your question, people hate him because he is on the front page of dA a lot, he's whiny and doesn't improve, and because he doesn't "get" Seinfeld. -
Please explain Decemberwe'en.
In a nutshell Decemberwe'en is a homemade Christmas stand-in because I'm a.) not a religious/spiritual person by even the remotest stretch of the imagination, b.) still want to give people I care about gifts, c.) want an excuse to keep my Hallowe'en decorations up from September-January.

Okay, okay. Let's say I wasn't really a male lesbian (MtF pre-op attracted exclusively to women) but pretended to be one, and then later found out that I was really a FtM trapped inside a cis-male body, so I had to become a female in order to become a mal

Though you have produced several beautiful books, I think it's safe to say that you are better established as a web cartoonist. I was wondering, have you considered changing your page format to better fit the average computer screen?
The internet is basically valuable to me as a way to make as many people as possible aware of my work, and to make it available to them to read easily. As long as I'm not compromising what I want to do with it, I will allow the experience of the material in this medium to suffer somewhat to that end -- I'm aware that the pacing of my comics doesn't work well with the Internet, and the pages are book pages, not webcomic pages. But it's free and easy to read, and it helps me build an audience, some fraction of which is nice enough to buy the print versions of the comics which are, to me, preferable. It is a perfect situation and I love it.
So in terms of my work I avoid thinking of myself as a web cartoonist as such. I hope that is clear I think I rambled. -
