Ha, I do want questions about all kinds of things. I may have listened to it, if it's the DVD version from 5 years ago? I spent days running around Chicago trying to find a copy of the movie, as a gift for the guy I was dating at the time. (I might have found it at Tower, which was still around then.) Anyway, I need to get my own copy.
One of the greatest things I've ever seen was a Spanish-language channel in Chicago showing a dubbed version of the movie in the middle of the night; I watched it with someone and that was hilarious. -
Kind of an obvious question, but I was hoping someone would ask. I told a lot of the story on Hockeenight's Puckcast of 3/1/10, but another version: A Flickr friend visiting from Boston took me to see Flames @ Blackhawks in Jan. 09. The only sports I'd seen as an adult were baseball games, so I thought this would at least be a new experience and chance to take photos. It was a great one, 5-2 Hawks win (& 4 fights in the game) and I had fun, but I didn't know anyone else going to games and it didn't occur to me to try to go to a game on my own...until Oct. 2009. And then I was hooked.
In the time since then I've learned a tremendous amount about the sport past and present. I've been to NHL arenas in 5 cities (besides Chicago), AHL games in 3 cities, and an ECHL game. Obviously my main thing is the NHL and Blackhawks, but I'd like to see all kinds of hockey--I haven't been to a college game, women's game, or junior hockey game yet. -
is pimping easy produces 6,360,000 results on Google. Page 2 shows that Wil Wheaton wore a pimp costume on Halloween 2006. Huh. ...I'll say the answer is no.

I haven't kept up with them in a while but went to the talk at the Chicago Architecture Foundation last week. I was disappointed they didn't present a "7 Most Endangered" list for 2010 but otherwise it was a good talk. I don't know enough about the inner workings of the group to judge them. A group like that can only do so much--the situation probably hasn't changed a lot since I blogged about them on City of Destiny 2 years ago. I'd like preservation groups to make better use of social media--why isn't there a Twitter account announcing demolition permits, vacant buildings, current demolition, etc.?

I'm someone who doesn't like to try to come up with even a top 5 or 10 "favorites" list, but I'll give you one for each that I can return to again and again (and I've probably quoted from all 3): "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure," Ellen Willis' essay collection "No More Nice Girls," and Belle and Sebastian's "If You're Feeling Sinister." (I know, the last one didn't say album, did it?)

Aw, I try to be a connoisseur and try all different kinds at bars, and check out a brewpub or two in every city I visit, but then I'm kind of a wuss about strong/strongly flavored beers, and if I don't know what to order I'll just get a Blue Moon to be on the safe side.
Favorite place I've ever drank beer would be an even better question... :) -
All right, people, don't make me change this to the setting where I have to block you or however this works...

Huh...this could be a spam-type follower or someone randomly searching formspring, couldn't it? But if it's a real follower/fan or something, well, *that's* intriguing. Can't say I've had much of a social life this hockey season...

Oops, I tweet about that too much. Yeah, some of my apartment is very cluttered. If I start selling books (which I'd like to) and other stuff, I could think of it as a warehouse, I guess.
-
I meant to say "ask me anything except job/money stuff"...but I know people wonder. Need a job now...just sort of getting by.

Uh, this is an "inbox" question to get me started. Closest bar I've been to is Streetside in Logan Square. But Whirlaway is the closest bar I've been to multiple times.
