I currently shoot with a Nikon D300, I have 3 lens and several on my wish list... but my go to lens has been my 50mm 1.4g for the last year. It is on my camera 90% of the time!

Hmm, well I am a people photographer... but I am also a working photographer so yes, I will photograph things other than people. I have done some real estate photography and I would be open to pet photography. I also do corporate sessions (which are people) but not something I advertise. During the off season, hopefully I am still working, but as it slows down it is a great time to offer some special incentives, update your website, do some training or creative soul searching.

Well, being my 5th pregnancy I kinda know how my body handles it. I have been working more during my pregnancy than in the first two yrs. of business. I guess you just have to gauge your body and definitely not over do it. I am due right smack dab in the busy season. So I did a Christmas in July and got all my holiday sessions booked for the rest of the year. As of right now I plan to stop about 6 weeks before my due date, but I do have a waiting list so if I feel up to it, I can add in some last minute appointments.
Good luck with the baby making!

I have done one workshop, and really I think it was the kickstart or kick in the butt I needed. I attended the Marta Locklear online workshop and it really changed the way I run my business, run my sessions, and it helped me to fall back in love with photography. Prior to that workshop my relationship with my photography had fallen into the "lets just be friends" category. Post workshop, I am excited for each of my sessions again, I am shooting what I love, and my clients are paying me what I always felt I was worth but didn't have the courage to go there.

There are a few other photogs I would probably workshop with if they came to Houston or offered online, but if I never take another workshop, I feel that I am good with that too.

Hmmm, I like the coziness of my business so I will hope that I still have a steady stream of clients who love and appreciate the "art" in my photography. I would also like to teach, I think online workshops are amazing and a great gift to people who can't get on a plane to attend a workshop, so I will probably start there. However I feel like I still have a great deal to learn, so it will be a couple of years before I will feel confident enough to say I am there.

Well, I would first say get as much knowledge as you can, flickr is a great place to start meeting other photographers and many great photographers are willing to teach. I kind of went backwards, but I would say it is really important to know how to use your camera. I am now the boss of it and can get it to do so many things that were not possible on automatic settings. There are tons of sites out there to help photographers, and more are popping up everyday. Photography is not for the faint of heart, it is very fulfilling artistically, but getting the money flowing is a lot more difficult. Unfortunately most people don't value photography as much as they should, they think that they can always get more photos down the road, but the future is not certain. I just wish more people understood that. I would also advise to attend a couple of great workshops, there are some awesome ones out there, I think photographers are catching on that part of running a successful photography business is teaching other photographers and a great way to supplement their income. Good Luck and I would be happy to answer more specific questions!

That is a tough question. Most of the photographers I love have their own unique style. I guess photography for me is like all things, be true to yourself, I tend to follow photographers who follow that path too. Maybe I will have to do a blog post on this.

I love to photograph people, all people. But right now I am really feeling a connection to Maternity and newborn portraits, something about that new relationship between mother and child really brings out my emotion and I think you see that in my images.

I have always seen the world in pictures, that's why I hate to drive, I would much rather look out the window and create images from what I see. My navigation system is currently full, because I have marked so many spots along my routes. I asked my grandma for a camera when I was in the first grade, and that Christmas I had it. I always loved taking pictures and I think I have a natural eye for composition.

I loath laundry. It requires a level of motivation somehow missing in my genetic makeup

Folding the wall of jeans at Millers outpost when I was 16. I use to have nightmares about it. 18 years later I still respect the folded jeans in every store I shop
