But you barely ever got to use any of them! You get a Hammer Suit, then some jerk hits you and you lose it? What a ripoff.

Ha! You know, it would be totally worth it to me to see the Nintendo CD-i games (on which I have spent a total of, oh, $275 now) all on Virtual Console. It would bring the value down considerably but god DAMN would it be funny.

The only blogs that I read in their entirety are Dubious Quality (dubiousquality.blogspot.com) and MagicalWasteland.com. I try to keep up with everything Tom Chick does at Fidgit, and... that's it? I think that's it. Otherwise I have a bunch of RSS feeds and I click around as my attention is grabbed by this or that.

I like buying old videogames for two days straight. I could do it for a week! So I had a hell of a time on the show floor. Otherwise, this year's CGE was pretty scaled back. I certainly hope they do another one but I'd like to see some new blood get in there and really go crazy building up the museum and programming schedule.

Well, Retronauts Live was a great show last year, so if you're a Retronauts fan I'd say that's the one. But I think the game-journalism panel is better for the general audience. Plus John Drake and I will probably have a fistfight at that one.

I think it all works. The music is good and the game does feel Metroidy, but not in a way that's overly slavish to the source material. I think they were just trying to make a good game, not one that clung to conventions that were established... well, when did Super Metroid come out? 17 years ago?

Nintendo has an explosive device hooked up to my neck that will go off if I either nod or shake my head. It makes sneezing quite frightening.

I was sitting in my college dorm room, senior year. I just woke up, turned on my computer, and my friend IM'ed me and said "It's fun when planes fly into the World Trade Center." I said, what. He told me to turn on the TV. I did, just in time to see the second plane hit live. Went out into the common room and watched TV for the rest of the morning with everyone else.

      Still burned into my mind.

I used to go every weekend, and yes, I had a routine -- there's a way to hit basically every Goodwill and Salvation Army in the city by looping up around through the Haight, the Mission, downtown and then back through the Richmond. These days I have a lot more to do on the weekends, so it's catch-as-catch-can.

The best thing I ever found personally was a whole stack of boxed NES launch games -- with the original round seal stickers and Famicom adapters inside -- for $2 each. There was also a boxed Final Fight 3 in there. That was a pretty fantastic day.

My parents also found a boxed Vectrex with a light pen and tons of boxed games for $100 about a year ago. Everything together is worth more like $800.

Yes; getting to write my opinions about things in exchange for money; having to do it even when I don't really feel very creative.

I do play PC games, but mostly stuff like Sam & Max. I don't play the big games on PC, I'd rather play them on consoles, sitting on the couch with a controller in my hand.

In the spirit of the health care bill, I am proposing that the House introduce the "Taco Bill," where everybody gets free tacos forever.
