I actually don't know, we've never been able to measure it. You see, when I stand up straight, my head actually blocks out the sun. This creates panic and chaos amongst the townspeople and so the mayor has kindly requested that I never stand up straight again.

If there was a travel store (as in "Buy Your Airplane Tickets Here!"), that would be my first choice. Otherwise...

IKEA. I am currently lacking in the home furnishings category and those Swedish meatballs really know what they're doing. In that same thread, Bed Bath and Be-Housewares because I'm a sucker for good sheets.

Oh I definitely have a favorite! Sophomore year, St. Patrick's Day party. I was imbibing smurf juice (I'm still not sure what that was) and green beer all night, flirting with the locals, and having an overall incredible time. When it came time to leave, Ellen, Devin and I stumbled off towards Lakeshore. On our way, we found solace from the cold by joining another group of soused revelers (similar to the technique used by penguins to stay warm in arctic temperatures). One member of our new group suggested that we sing a song, "Shaken Baby" was his choice (my drunken slur analyzer found that he meant "Shake It Up Baby" as in "Twist and Shout"). After some confused looks, Ellen saved the day by suggesting the infant friendly "Build Me Up Buttercup". As our little group trudged down Breese St, merrily singing our song, our fellow students joined us from their porches as we passed houses, turning this moment into a real life musical. Truly the most fantastic college memory I have.

It's a tie between "Les Jeux Sont Faits" by Jean Paul Sartre and "Candide" by Voltaire.
LJSF is an existentialist novel which would normally turn me off but I loved it. The premise is that a man and a woman were meant to meet each other and fall in love but they died prematurely. In the afterlife (which strangely resembles a DMV or some other sort of government office), they are told that they have 24 hours to go return to life and fall in love. During this 24 hours, rather than attempt to fall in love, the couple each try to warn their friends or family about things they found out after death. They fail to change anything and end up back in the after life.

My other favorite, Candide, is a great read from start to finish. On the surface, it seems like a goofy adventure novel but, of course, it all comes back to Voltaire's philosophy. My favorite part, by far, is the very end when one character tries to use philosophy to explain that this world is the best of all worlds (for the umpteenth time) and the other tired, apathetic characters respond that they no longer care and that they find the most joy in tiring themselves out by tending their gardens.

This is going to get really embarrassing, really quick. I feel like I should mention that 90% are from my immediate family. I'm sure my friends have given more but a lot of them didn't stick.

Great question! I really had to think about this one. Well, at the risk of sounding too cliche, it would have to be my Dad's dad, Grandpa Kelley. He died from cancer when I was hardly even out of the womb. I've heard stories about him and he seemed like a force to be reckoned with, for better or for worse. He was someone who knew who he was and what he wanted from him life, a man of conviction. He was the anchor of the family. More than anything else, I've seen the fruits of his labor and I think he must have been a pretty great man to shape all of my family into who they are today.

Fall in Madison, right after the leaves have started changing colors. The weather is chilly and crisp. The wind is making waves in the lake. I'm eating an apple from the farmers market.

I'm going to go with ninjas. Ninjas are more creative and use their surroundings to their advantage. Pirates are more apt to blow up their surroundings. Then drink all the rum. Bastards...

I research for UW. I'm torn between med/vet/grad school. I love musicals, old movies, and french writers. Oh and I'm really tall. (side note: please forgive any errors since I can't edit after I've answered!)
