Go on.. don't be shy. Ask me anything! (But just FYI.. I'm not a London tourist guidebook)

Lol. You assume that I have a car. Neither since we use public transport here in London and have no need of a car. We don't own a car.

Hm. Its quite difficult to explain to those not so familiar with or into dance. There have been many different explanations. One I recently read that was nice and succinct: "Think Glamour, Grace, Funk and Arm Patterns!" Also here is a good interview video with one of the original practitioners in the style of waacking Tyrone Proctor (who danced on the famous US show "Soul Train") - answering this very question http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cb0zQNK-meo#t=3m10s

My explanation? So... what I know of waacking and it's history is that Waacking originated in the early 70s - it was created in the gay, underground disco clubs of LA and was danced to underground disco music. It is a very theatrical and dramatic dance - influenced by the 50s silent movie actresses (eg Greta Garbo). It is a freestyle dance. The components of waacking include fast strong arm movements and hand/wrist flicks, poses (in the style of the 50s silent movies rather than 80s magazines), theatre & glamour, footwork and anything else you choose to inject into the dance from your own dance background that interprets the music. It doesn't HAVE to be danced to disco music but it is ideal to learn the style to disco music because that is how it was born. It is a fierce dance that requires PLENTY of attitude and character. And the reason I love it is because it is so freeing - it allows so much personal expression, particularly as a woman, expressing my femininity (none of this masculine gansta stuff you often see in other street dance styles) and strength. It is a really difficult dance to master because the musicality is so hard. To be able to hear and pick out the different instruments in a song, esp ones that the average person doesn't hear, when its flying by so fast.. and successfully waack on those rhythms. When you see someone who can do this (look up Princess Lockerooo) and you understand what they are doing, it is incredible to watch. This video on facebook is my favourite video of her: http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=10150124495154696 but she has many on youtube too. Most famously she is on the current US "So You Think You Can Dance" season. Hopefully after this, more people will know about waacking. Coz I'm kinda starting to get tired of explaining to people what it is every time I mention it. :)

Wow. How to advise young ppl? Thats a big question! Lol. Ok personally my advice would be to take it slow - don't expect yourself to be able to do and achieve everything at once.. London is a big place, and can be very stressful and demanding - lots of successful ppl to compare and compete with and it can be quite a lonely place. Trust me, I know! Be patient with yourself.

Also personally, I would advise against falling into the binge drinking culture. It's not going to do you any benefit - and you can achieve a lot more without it. And to be perfectly honest - a girl so drunk she is hardly able to walk or talk is not a very pretty nor sophisticated sight to behold. I've seen too many of them on a fri & sat night. Ppl need to respect themselves more than that.

Best thing: usability and design - its just really slick all round. And really intuitive to use and navigate through your apps or get back to home. I much prefer the iphone keyboard over the android htc keyboard. And of course having my phone, music and internet all in one place is convenient - I used ipod mini and ipod touch before so it makes sense to combine mobile and music player into one. The apps are nicely done too and also usable and intuitive - twitter, email, facebook, weather etc.

Worst thing: the price and restrictions by apple like only being able to sync music to one computer (tho there are ways around it hehe). Also more specifically, my iphone 3G is getting pretty slow nowadays (eg opening the camera app takes about 10 sec to initialise - annoying when u want to quickly snap something funny that's not gonna stick around like i dunno, my cat doing something stupid), camera quality on 3G isn't great and its REALLY hard to take self-shots!!

Hmmm.. difficult question! I love having long hair and I have had long hair for pretty much my whole life (except one unfortunate incident when I was about 5 or 6 and my mum cut my hair in a bob and I absolutely hated it and was teased at school... actually quite possibly the reason I never went short ever again).

Anyway! I don't really like short short hair on girls, I just don't think it looks very feminine.. so I would probably go with medium length just above/on the shoulders.. maybe I would like to try a perm - curls or wave - or go with some bold colour like bright red or blonde.. or both! I think I'd prefer to experiment with colour rather than length. :)

    6. Kazzart

That is the question. And that is the answer. (Ask a stupid question....... )

Sorry @emmalene, it took me a while but I FINALLY got around to looking him up on Youtube. O.M.G. That was... disturbing lol. She.. err.. I mean HE.. really does have an uncanny resemblance to Ms Spears. And an arse that puts mine to shame lol!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RsMHWBBWdJQ

Hm I had to go and look up the definition of both as I wasn't quite sure what the difference was! Anyway, if I had to choose one, I suppose I'd say masochist!

    9. Kazzart

LOL. It's not that, smartarse. :P I can answer questions but some questions are more adequately answered in more than 140 characters. Yours happened to be one of them, and hey, why not make use of this handy website? Besides, I don't get asked nearly enough questions so I gotta pimp my formspring somehow! ;)

    10. Kazzart

Gee.. sounds like one of those damn HR annual review questions lol. Is there any need to achieve something during your leisure time? I travel because I enjoy it, because I like to take a break and get away from every day life, because it renews me, because I like to see and experience different places/cities. So I guess, what I achieve is self-renewal and also it opens my mind to see how other people and places do life?

    11. Kazzart

I never received a questions about jQuery 1.4? I am aware it is released (and that it released on my birthday). But no I'm not using it yet. I'm tempted to try it out and upgrade an existing project to see how it goes though... So who is this anyway, is it @andismith trying to be anon? :P

    12. Kazzart

Hmmm... tricky one this. I honestly don't know yet. I can see short/medium term (London most likely, or perhaps somewhere continental either italy, germany or spain). But long term? It really depends how things go with the boyf, job, life circumstances, money..

I can definitely say I don't see myself moving to the countryside! It will have to be a major city of some sort, but with a laid back lifestyle and better weather! Some possible candidates (if language were no barrier) would be.. Barcelona, Rome, Frankfurt or maybe Berlin.. or Milan.. or just stay in London. Whether I want to stay in the EU or go back to Australia? That is something that won't happen for the short/mid term even if I wanted it. We'll see... sometimes I like the idea.. sometimes the idea of living so far from everything here (eg not being able to travel europe so easily) no longer appeals to me.

For now, I'm just taking things as they come.. seeing how life pans out. :)

    13. Kazzart

Good thing you wrote "discuss" coz this sure ain't gonna be a one line answer!

Well to be fair the very short answer is both... but I am never satisfied with short answers. Much needs to be elaborated upon.

My roots in dance I suppose are hiphop - it was the music I grew up listening to in high school.. what I danced to at the clubs with my friends in uni.. and when I started doing dance classes, the genre of dance I ended up choosing (after a couple years of also doing jazz). So... I think I will always feel hiphop more than I do salsa.

But I have also always had a simmering interest in latin music.. even though my exposure to it in Sydney was very low (eg J.Lo and Ricky Martin was the extend of it!) But that latin rhythm was something that always captured me. So when I started doing cuban salsa here in London 2 years ago, it felt natural too. Actually my exposure to cuban music began as a musician - when I did the latin piano and latin performance ensemble courses at Goldsmith College in London. And my love of playing this music was instantaneous.

So.. in the end, I enjoy both. And actually, the meeting point (to me) of the two is reggaeton. This is why I love it so much. To me, reggaeton takes the freedom of personal expression in dance from hiphop (which is something I find frustrating in salsa due to it being a partnered dance) but still retains that spicy intoxicating rhythm from salsa. :)

Have I discussed this question sufficiently? Told you it wouldn't be a one line answer!

    14. Kazzart

I'm afraid I don't know enough about either to answer this question now! Can I get back to you after I watch the movie? :)

    15. Kazzart

Well.. depends what you define as early or late! Spanish late would be very different from british late. But I suppose compared to the average brit, I am more inclined to staying up late and getting up late. I do make an effort to get to bed at a decent time these days for work as my body just doesn't cope well with less than 7-8 hrs sleep anymore. The joys of getting older. :/

    16. Kazzart

Well that's a big IF there lol. But ok, if that were the case.. things like italian coffee and food were loves in my life before I even met him, so nothing would change there! But language, well, I think I probably wouldn't continue paying for & attending italian classes. If I were to learn a language, I'd actually probably take up spanish. As for another guy, I don't think I'd actively look for another italian lol. I've been told many of them don't really make for... well, the most reliable of partners.. (this is coming from my bf regarding the stereotypical italian male!) Lucky for me my bf isn't a stereotypical italian, in fact some italian's tell him he's not very italian at all lol.

Summer aaaaaaalll day long! Preferably on a warm beach in the hot sunshine. Though.. if the winter vacation involves skiing on some AWESOME fresh pow in the alps... it may be a close competitor to summer. But deep down, I'll always be a summer girl at heart. :)

    19. Kazzart

I would love to not have to go to work every day!!!! :) Ok but srsly... only if the one supporting me earned enough money for the two of us! So like, two persons salary sorta thing. And even then.. I would definitely need to have my own projects and hobbies.. otherwise I think I would get really bored. Heck I'm already bored and this is just one friday night at home alone lol.

    20. Kazzart

Hmm I do give that impression don't I! I've become such a whiny brit lol. Well to be honest I don't completely hate it all the time! There are some things I really like about London.
      1. The fact that there are so many opportunities to experience new and different things/cultures/activities. eg cuban salsa dancing.. or zouk lambada dance classes.
      2. I do like the snow we occasionally get. Its so pretty!!! :)
      3. As much as I complain about commuting, the fact that I have never owned, nor driven, nor felt the need to ever drive a car in London speaks much about the thorough, established and available public transport system to pretty much anywhere in London.
