Medium Format is so beautiful, you're going to love it. I personally use four different medium format cameras, the Mamiya 645, Contax 645, Hasselblad and a Rollei 2.8 80mm. Both the Hasselblad and Rollei have a square image format. Each of these four cameras have wonderful lenses. I started out with the Rollei (that was first love), and the Mamiya and quickly added the Hasselblad with 220 backs. More recently I found a used Contax 645 at a great price from B&H here in NY. The Contax 645 backs are flexible and you can shoot either 120 or 220 film, which works out well since 220 b&w film was discontinued. For the price, I would suggest to start with a Mamiya but if you are lucky and find a Contax, I would go for it. Don't forget the Holga, it's also medium format! Thanks for your question and best of luck!

I shoot with a Holga at almost all my weddings and my clients LOVE the photos! I shoot one to two rolls, I bring the cameras loaded usually with B&W film, and only unload them in total darkness. Since the exposure is f8 at a 60th, it does require a lot of light so I only shoot with the Holga in bright light. The work flow is like any other film camera. Thanks for your question!

Hi WITP,
Thanks for your question. It depends which cameras I'm shooting with. I shoot both film and digital. For the medium format Contax 645 film camera, I love the 80mm f2 Carl Zeiss lens. For the Contax SLR 35mm, I love the 28-80mm Carl Zeiss lens and the Hasselblad CM500, I love the 80mm f2.8 lens. I also shoot with Panoramics and with the Holga, both have fixed lenses. For digital, I'm all Canon. My favorite lenses are the 24-80 f2.8, the 35mm f2 and the 50/Macro f2.5 lens. And yes, between myself and my assistant, we carry them all!
Thank you for your question!
