Make sure to have drinks in Gastown later in the night. Most people show up during the day to snap a picture with the Steam Clock. But there are a ton of cool places in that neighbourhood. eg. The Diamond, Salt Tasting Room, Chill Winston, Alibi Room.

I like answering questions. I follow a lot of very smart people and learn a ton from them. I'm interested in the "knowledge exchange" category of applications. Eg: StackOverflow, Quora, Formspring.

The hardest part is the roller coaster. It can be up one day and down the next. Some days you don't even want to get out of bed.

The best part is choice. You get to choose the projects that you work on, when you work, where you work, and how everything is done.

Good question. I can't think of a happiest moment, but there are a number of happy times I can remember. From finishing high school and university to shipping projects to motorcycle trips to building the company.

Hmm, good question. I try to do a ton of small unselfish deeds.

A couple things do come to mind. I gave away my car from university to the Kidney Society. I could have probably sold it for $2000 or so.

Our family and I did make a big donation to the community centre in our grandfather's village in India.

If I remember correctly, you can't do local viewer on the iPhone. I'll check the documentation tomorrow morning. Off the top of my head, infinite versus local viewer should only effect the specular lighting. Diffuse and ambient lighting should look the same.

Does that matter for a display that is 320x480?

There are two possible performance reasons:
      1) there is an extra dot product at each pixel (err each fragment, I guess) and maybe that is too expensive
      2) the PowerVR chip on the iPhone does tile based deffered rendering. That means it would have to store an extra 6 floats for each triangle. The iPhone 2G didn't have a whole lot of spare RAM after the OS and background Apps were loaded. Also, there was no L2 cache.

I need to double check my facts but that's my first guess off the top of my head.

t looks like GL_LIGHT_MODEL_LOCAL_VIEWER is not defined in the OpenGL ES spec:
      http://www.khronos.org/opengles/sdk/1.1/docs/man/glLightModel.xml

Only GL_LIGHT_MODEL_AMBIENT AND GL_LIGHT_MODEL_TWO_SIDE is supported. I'm guessing the iPhone doesn't support two sided lighting because the GPU does tile based deferred rendering.

I own a Georgetown Hoyas football jersey from grade 8. So, that has got to be about 16 years old.
