Is such a question possible to answer? As gut reaction, I would say Peter Howell's. It's the piece that (to me) works best as a piece of listenable, normal music in its own right. The Derbyshire theme has an otherworldly, beautifully classical quality and is of course almost definitely the *best* theme. But when it comes to my favourite, I pick Peter Howell's because he managed to create a brilliantly realised rendition with an energising tone and a stark, bright feel, whilst demonstrating such an in-depth knowledge of the original and what made it great.
